The Kentucky Wildcats have been among the best teams in college baseball this season. Entering the final weekend of the season with just two games remaining on their schedule, the Wildcats have a 38-11 record that includes a 21-7 mark in a tough Southeastern Conference.

With the SEC Tournament set to begin on May 21 and the NCAA Regionals slated to kick off on May 31, the final weekend of the regular season will take on additional importance. Heading into Kentucky's weekend series with the Vanderbilt Commodores, here's a closer look at where they stand in regards to the 2024 College World Series.

Where do the Kentucky Wildcats stand after Week 13?

The Kentucky Wildcats have been among the best teams in the nation this season. They have a 38-11 record, including a 21-7 mark in SEC play and rank No. 2 in the nation. Kentucky has the sixth-best odds, +1,200, to emerge as national champions, trailing only the Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, Arkansas Razorbacks, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Oregon State Beavers.

Meanwhile, the SEC has been, by far, the toughest conference in the sport. There are currently four teams ranked within the top five and seven teams ranked within the top 25. The Wildcats are one of the top contenders to earn the top seed in the NCAA Tournament. In all likelihood, that slot could be determined by the results of the SEC Tournament.

Either way, Kentucky appears to be a lock to earn a top 16 seed and hosting rights in the regional round of the tournament. They have likely already ensured that they will earn a top eight seed – barring a late-season meltdown – which would earn them the opportunity to host games through the super regionals, provided they are not eliminated from the tournament.

Kentucky is in the midst of a three-game set with the Vanderbilt Commodores. While they have more than likely secured a spot in the NCAA Regionals, their seeding will be determined by how they finish the season and how they perform in the SEC Tournament.

The Wildcats will have to get through both the NCAA Regionals and NCAA Super Regionals to qualify for the 2024 College World Series, which does not begin until June 14. Kentucky has been among the best teams in the nation and will likely continue to be in the postseason as they have faced top competition throughout the season.
