The Purdue Boilermakers had a historic run in the 2024 March Madness despite their title-game loss to UConn. In the regular season, the Boilermakers had an overall 35-4 record and are preparing to replicate in the upcoming season.

However, fans will miss some players in the 2024-25 season, as they have moved on to the pro league or the other teams. Here are a few of the names who will not sport the white and gold anymore.

Top three players Purdue lost before heading into the 2024-25 season

#1 Zach Edey

After declaring for the 2023 NBA draft, Edey returned for his senior year with promises of taking Purdue deep into the postseason in 2024. The center delivered his promise, as the Boilermakers played the Final Four for the first time since 1980 and their first title game since 1969.

Despite the disappointing end, Edey shone through, as he averaged 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.2 steals while shooting 62.3% from the floor and 71.1% from the free throw line.

Edey has declared for the 2024 NBA draft and is participating in the draft combine, where he has caught the attention of scouts with his skills. He's predicted to be a No. 20 to No. 25 pick by several mock drafts.

#2 Lance Jones

Jones transferred to Purdue as a graduate transfer, using his fifth eligibility year to help the Boilermakers in the championship run. He averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists and shot 44.1% from the floor and 43.1% from the deep.

Despite spending just one season in West Lafayette, Jones endeared himself to both the team and the fans. He led the team from the front on the court and always joined the audience for the "Sandstorm dance."

Jones has not revealed his plans yet.

#3 Mason Gillis

In his senior year, Gillis averaged 6.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists. The 2024 Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year played a crucial role for Purdue working alongside Edey and others mostly as a bench player.

Mason Gillis will now take his talents to the Duke Blue Devils, where he will be the only well-experienced player in terms of years in college and time spent playing in the NCAA Tournaments (11 games in four years). It's possible that the forward will take a much bigger role with the Blue Devils.
