Mac has not been a very popular gaming platform even though the hardware is powerful enough to handle a variety of the latest games. Although not made considering a gamer's needs, it can still handle a few AAA games. Apple has been pushing AAA gaming on their iOS devices for a while now, but their laptops are not getting the games they deserve.

Even though the games library on a Mac is not as many as you will expect, we have still collected the best games that you can play on your Mac right now.

1) Baldur's Gate 3

Those who are familiar with RPGs will find everything they need in Baldur's Gate 3. The last entry in its franchise was so amazing that it won the Game of the Year award for 2023, beating games like Alan Wake 2 and Spider-Man 2. Baldur's Gate 3 was received well by gamers for being an AA title that handles the game's single-player and multiplayer components extremely well.

The relationships you can make in this game are based on your choices as Baldurs Gate 3 has a branching storyline. Your decisions matter, helping the storyline move forward and making the journey more immersive and interesting. The simple turn-based combat system has been advanced using new abilities for the characters. Baldur's Gate 3 can run on your Mac efficiently.


2) Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 has been a long-running franchise defining the survival horror genre since the PS1 era. The series has had its ups and downs, but the franchise peaked when Resident Evil 4 came out. Although the title was legendary for its time, people had their doubts when a remake was announced. Fortunately, Resident Evil 4 Remake improved upon the original in more ways than one.

The character designs, story, set pieces and much more were improved while retaining the essence of the original. Capcom added more to the game, such as stealth mechanics and a parry system, to make the gameplay more advanced by today's standards. Resident Evil 4 Remake recently found its home on Apple devices as well when it was ported to Mac and iOS.

Lara Croft has been a crush for many gamers since the 90s era. She has been around since the PS1 days and continues to be a significant presence in today's gaming world. The Tomb Raider franchise was rebooted in 2013 and Lara Croft returned to our gaming consoles with a trilogy of games. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third entry in the franchise, closing the reboot saga.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider was released in 2018 and the visuals still hold up today. This action-adventure title is similar to the Uncharted games as it lets you discover ruins to look for treasure while killing enemies with weapons you come across during your playthrough. This AAA third-person shooter is playable on Mac and will keep you busy for hours.


4) Hades

Hades is considered a genre-defining title by players who prefer indie games. The indie AA title was released in 2020 to critical acclaim and has garnered a dedicated fanbase that continues to worship it to this day. Hades is a hack-and-slash game where you fight creatures from Greek mythology while going up against the gods. The game's difficulty might make you turn your back on it on the first few attempts.

The combat in Hades is difficult but fair, which you will realize a few hours into the game. Its story revolves around our main character Zagreus, who is trying to escape the underworld by any means possible. 5) Fortnite

Often regarded as one of the best battle royale games ever, Fortnite has been a cash cow for Epic Games for quite some time now. Love it or hate it, the game's success is undeniable. Getting a victory royale in this free-to-play title is not easy as you have to fight against 99 other players to survive.

Fortnite introduces new licensed characters now and then, which are purchasable for a limited time using the in-game currency. Characters like Kratos, Nathan Drake, John Wick, and many more have been officially playable for a very long time. There are always new characters to choose from, which means getting victory royales on your Mac should be exciting and fun.
