Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up on the aspects that keep him disciplined and consistent day in and day out.

Ronaldo, apart from being one of the greatest footballers of all time, is also known for being one of the most disciplined and dedicated athletes across the globe. He indulges in rigorous gym work and also takes care of his body in a minute manner.

Ronaldo's regimen has been one of the key reasons behind his exemplary longevity. However, the 39-year-old has admitted that it's not always easy to keep himself on track.

Like every other human being, Ronaldo often faces the challenge of keeping himself motivated. He recently shed light on how he manages to stay focused, saying (via WHOOP podcast):

"I fight against my mind, yes. Sometimes it happens, we are all human beings. We are not happy everyday, we are not in a good mood everytime. It's normal, it's part of us."

Ronaldo continued:

"I fight against [that feeling] to overcome it. It's a big challenge, it's when you're not willing to do something, but you still need to do it. This is why I say our mind is a box of surprises and you have to challenge yourself to be consistent."

He added:

"Nobody likes to go to the gym everyday, but you still have to do it. Your mental strength comes from that. Maybe in the beginning when you start it feels hard but after you finish the gym or cold plunge or even the training, you will feel better. I think that's the big key here."
