Steelers Super Bowl champ claims Cowboys fans are changing addresses to “cheer for CJ Stroud”

CJ Stroud was a revelation for Houston. However, they were not the only city affected in Texas. Dallas fans reportedly are "trying to move down the road" to cheer for CJ Stroud. NFL analyst Ryan Clark, who won Super Bowl XLIII with the Pittsburgh Steelers, said so on ESPN's "First Take" on Thursday.

Ryan Clark: [00:00:53] "I know Dallas Cowboys fans. They are trying to be Houston Texans fans right now. There are people who are trying to move down the road so they could cheer for CJ Stroud instead of cheering for Dak Prescott. [00:01:06]" [13.2] First Take

Of course, Clark didn't give any specifics about the number of fans who were "trying" to move or how seriously they were "trying." Implied in his statement was the assumption that it was not enough to simply turn the channel to watch Stroud over Dak Prescott.

Instead, certain fans allegedly wanted to change their dwelling so they could more readily cheer for Stroud.

CJ Stroud challenges Jerry Jones for Texas

If nothing else, the 2023 season marked the emergence of a true challenger to become the face of Texas football. Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys have held the mantle for decades, but with the narrative of playoff struggles seemingly as old as time, Stroud offers Texas football fans something fresh.

As such, with Clark claiming that fans are moving to Houston, it leaves Jones with an allegedly decreasing fanbase. If that is true, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys has a massive problem on his hands. Of course, he has a well-timed lever he can pull and reason for hope.

First, the Texans have flirted as a potential breakout dynasty before. Deshaun Watson and Brock Osweiler served as reasons to believe that a Super Bowl run and potential long era of winning was afoot. However, both eras ended before they managed to reach that mark.

Either way, Jones now has added reason to take the slow road with Dak Prescott. If nothing else, adding a replacement offers fans reason to believe that the playoff curse may have lifted. That said, Prescott is slated for payment through the 2024 season, which means that at least for this season, his presence will continue.
