Former nWo member thinks Adam Copeland (Edge) hasn't moved the needle for AEW like CM Punk did

Adam 'Edge' Copeland has undoubtedly bolstered the AEW roster after the travesty that went down at All In this summer. There have been some rumblings backstage about The Rated-R Superstar hoping to "fill the gap" left by CM Punk.

However, WCW veteran and former nWo member Konnan thinks The Ultimate Opportunist's arrival hasn't helped bring more eyeballs to the product.

Adam Copeland made his AEW in-ring debut on Dynamite: Title Tuesday, which went head-to-head against NXT this past week. The show garnered 609K viewers despite the formerly Edge headlining against Luchasaurus.

Speaking on the Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan noted that Adam Copeland didn't move the numbers like CM Punk did when he first showed up in All Elite Wrestling:

"When [CM] Punk came back, he did do a spike in the ratings, Edge didn't... Still, it should have been a little bit higher. This is Edge's first time there. That is something big, and as a fan, 'Well, Edge's gonna be at the next show, Edge's gonna be at the next show.' Why didn't they have a better house? It's a question that needs to be asked," Konnan said.

The Mexican legend continued:

"But how has that helped with what's happening now? [On All In success] That buzz kind of ended right there. It ended in London, bro. London was a unique situation. You're near France, you're near England, first time in Europe. You know you put European stars on, and you had Saraya go over. You had Grado show up. It was a great time. But how do you capitalize on that? It's a question that needs to be asked," Konnan added. [0:50 - 2:52]

Kevin Nash lauds AEW for bringing in Adam 'Edge' Copeland

Despite the criticism, WWE legend Kevin Nash thinks Adam 'Edge' Copeland's presence will be valuable to the AEW locker room.

During the Kliq This podcast, Nash opened up about how The Rated-R Superstar could help the younger guys:

"I pray that Edge doesn’t get hurt… but he’s a great addition. One of the things, their style is so different than the WWE’s style. It’s kind of an indy-rific, but I believe that bringing in somebody like Edge – he has always worked a main event style. I think you put him with one of those younger guys, stop some of the bad habits that some of the other guys have.”

After defeating Luchasaurus, Copeland has his sights set on Christian Cage. With AEW Full Gear right around the corner, it will be interesting to see if the two men will square off against each other for the first time in many years.
