Tony Khan could convince 70-year-old WWE legend to come out of retirement for Sting's last match, says Vince Russo [Exclusive]

Could this WWE legend play a major role in Sting
The Icon Sting will hang up his boots next year.

Sting's retirement match is set to take place next year at AEW Revolution, and as the Swan Song of The Icon, it'll undoubtedly be a high-profile clash. The match is yet to be announced, but Vince Russo believes it could lure a WWE legend out of retirement.

Russo recently speculated what Sting's final match could look like. The veteran seems to believe that Ric Flair will undoubtedly be involved in the bout in one way or another. However, he recently took it further and added another legend to the match.

During a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wresling's Writing with Russo, the veteran writer suggested that one more crazy addition to the match could be Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat.

"There is one more dark horse that he can throw in that match as well... You can take this one step further now. You could make this a six-man... Bro, I’m telling you, another option is a six-man with [Ricky] Steamboat. Bro, have you not heard Tony Khan sing the praises of Ricky Steamboat?" [From 08:25 to 09:39]

Vince Russo also suggested a few other names who could retire Sting next year

Later in the same episode, Vince Russo suggested that Chris Jericho or Adam Copeland could also get involved in a feud with Sting. But in the end, Russo wants to see a singles match between The Icon and Ric Flair.

"Maybe you throw [Chris] Jericho in? You got Edge [Adam Copeland]... Bro, at the end of the day he’s gonna make it a one-on-one [Sting vs. Ric Flair]." [From 10:12 to 10:52]

Rob Van Dam recently offered himself up to be The Vigilante's final opponent, and with his ties to AEW, this could also be a viable option. Only time will tell, but Vince Russo seems set on Ric Flair's involvement.
