Baraneetharan is journalist at Sportskeeda primarily covering Indian Football along with Indian Tennis, Olympic Sports and Business of Sports. He has a previous work experience of 3 years, during which he covered the 2023 Squash World Cup as a Digital Head and interviewed several top athletes and federation presidents.

Baraneetharan has played football at district level and has been an ardent fan of Indian football since the 2014 Indian Super League, supporting his home team Chennaiyin FC since that time. His favorite Indian footballer is Sunit Chhetri, who is simply the ‘GOAT’ for him. India’s famous goalless draw against Qatar in 2019 is a moment in Indian football history that he cherishes a lot.

Baraneetharan believes that there should be increased focus on the grassroot level for Indian Football to probably reach the same level as Cricket. According to him, investing in grassroots and improving talents are the steps that can be taken to help India qualify for the FIFA World Cup in the near future.

A firm believer in substance being king in articles, Baraneetharan conducts thorough research and believes in writing from his heart, so that his words can carry feelings to the readers in the best possible way. His other hobbies include poetry, watching sport documentaries and preparing business presentations.
