Jac Caglianone became a finalist for the John Olerud Award

The College Baseball Foundation shared that Jac Caglianone was one of the ten semifinalists for the 2024 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award. Caglinone is one of the semifinalists returning from last year and the only 2023 finalist to make the top 10 this year.

Even though he is the frontrunner for the award, many were surprised that his equally impressive sophomore season did not end in him receiving any accolades. Despite that, Jac needs to end the year on a high note to win the John Olerud Award.

Cags was a consensus All-American last season, posting a .418/.529/.862 slash line with 28 home runs and 55 RBIs. He only struck out 18 times against 38 walks, of which many were intentional. His game has further improved two years after Tommy John surgery.

Though Jac Caglianone's fastball tops out at 98 mph, his command and effective use of the slider and changeup have significantly advanced.
