Fans recently expressed their desire to see Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) Virat Kohli bowl in the ongoing IPL 2024. 'Kohli ko bowling do' chants have echoed in the stadiums during some of RCB's matches.

Reacting to the request, Kohli hilariously stated that he would never be bowling in the IPL. He mentioned how fans started the chant during RCB's match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium, where the home team chased down the 197-run target in just 15.3 overs.

The ace batter joked that his batting confidence would have also taken a hit had he bowled in the high-scoring contest. During an interview with Jio Cinema, here's what Kohli said about fans asking him to bowl:

"Pagal ho gaye ho kya bhai? Batting ka confidence bhi khatam ho jayega."

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been in stellar form with the bat in IPL 2024. The former RCB skipper is currently the Orange Cap holder of the season, with 661 runs to his name across 13 innings at a strike rate of 155.16.

The onus will be on Virat Kohli as RCB take on CSK in a must-win match in IPL 2024

RCB are currently placed seventh in the points table. They had an underwhelming first half, but ultimately managed to stage a miraculous turnaround by securing five wins on the trot.

Bengaluru are still in contention for a place in the playoffs. However, they will have to compete against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the vacant fourth spot.

RCB and CSK will lock horns at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 18. Chennai will advance to the playoffs if they trump Bengaluru in the contest.

For Bengaluru to qualify, they don't have to beat Chennai, but also ensure they finish with a better run rate compared to them, considering that the two sides will be tied at 14 points.

RCB will have to win by at least 18 runs (assuming that they score 200 batting first). If they are chasing, they will have to seal victory within 18.1 overs. Their net run rate stands at 0.387, while CSK are at 0.528.

The Bengaluru fans would want Virat Kohli to continue his impressive run as they look to avoid yet another league-stage exit.
