The market valuation of footballers is monitored by all Premier League clubs throughout the year. While the valuation is not the exact amount that clubs need to pay to buy a player, it's still a great benchmark indicator.

By assessing the market valuation of a footballer, Premier League clubs can determine if they have wasted their funds by overpaying or got a bargain. These valuations are formed based on several parameters.

While most benchmarks only consider performance indicators, market valuations include financial elements like remaining contract periods. Suffice to say, market valuations of footballers are not static and undergo revision when one or more attributes change.

But the market valuation of Premier League footballers drops with time as well. The next set of footballers has seen the largest drop in their valuations in the Premier League, which will be a major cause of worry for them and their clubs.

#10 Ferran Torres: -€5M

Manchester City forward Ferran Torres.
Manchester City forward Ferran Torres.

Ferran Torres was seen as one for the future by Manchester City, and he has carried his form from Euro 2020 to make a bright start. Torres was pivotal in the Cityzens' dominating win against Arsenal earlier in the season, and it seemed like he would play the False 9 role for them in the upcoming days.

That did not happen, however, and Ferran Torres fell down the pecking order due to injuries and is now out of favor. He has now been strongly linked with a switch to Barcelona, and Pep Guardiola has all but confirmed it.

Torres may have managed four goal involvements in seven appearances, but he has struggled for game time. His valuation has gone down and reduced to €40 million.

#9 Jadon Sancho: -€5M

Manchester United star Jadon Sancho has struggled to acclimatize to the Premier League.
Manchester United star Jadon Sancho has struggled to acclimatize to the Premier League.

Jadon Sancho has faced a tough start to his Manchester United career and the club's inconsistent performances have not helped his cause.

Earlier in the summer, Manchester United finally got the man they had chased for a significant time after his exploits in the Bundesliga. It was expected that the English winger would need some time, but one can't be blamed for having high expectations from Sancho.

Game time has not been a problem for Sancho as he has managed to play over 1000 minutes spread over 19 games. He has only been able to manage two goals and no assists. A lot more is expected for a man of his talent, and Sancho's market valuation has now been reduced to €85 million.

#8 Raul Jimenez: -€6M

Injuries can leave a lasting impression on some footballers, and it's a sad thing when it happens.

Wolves centre-forward Raul Jimenez seems to be the latest victim of that as he has found his time on the pitch quite the opposite of what was expected from him. Jimenez suffered a nasty head injury in a Premier League match last season that kept him out for a long time.

Post his recovery, he has barely been the player who was once linked with Real Madrid.

The 30-year-old Mexican has been a regular starter for Wolves under Bruno Lage and has played close to 1400 minutes of first-team football. Yet all Jimenez has to show for those minutes are three goals and two assists which is significantly less than his usual rate of return in the Premier League.

His valuation nosedives further to rest at a mere €22 million.

#7 Rob Holding: -€6M

Arsenal centre-back Rob Holding has hardly played in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal centre-back Rob Holding has hardly played in the Premier League this season.

Rob Holding is sadly the case of a Premier League player who cannot get his chances and make good of his case. Holding started the season on the bench in Arsenal's poor opener against Brentford in the Premier League.

Holding then started the next two losses, and the team's overall poor defensive display resulted from his poor performance.

Since those couple of defeats, Holding has made just one more substitute appearance in the Premier League. He has been a regular in the EFL Cup, but that has been all about it as he has played just 547 minutes despite being available.

Holding's valuation has plummeted to €12 million and is unlikely to go up anytime soon unless things change radically.

#6 Tanguy Ndombele: -€7M

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has struggled to shine in the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has struggled to shine in the Premier League.

Tanguy Ndombele is a classic example of a talented footballer being unable to settle down in a new league or club. He joined Tottenham from Lyon and was expected to be the midfield maestro in the years to come.

However, things have gone in the exact opposite direction as Ndombele has been unable to become a guaranteed starter after failing to display consistency.

Compared to the previous season, Ndombele has secured a few more minutes. But 762 minutes spread across 13 appearances hardly does justice to his ability. He has not contributed much with just three goal involvements, and his valuation has now come down to €38 million.

#5 Cristiano Ronaldo: -€10M

After years of speculation, Cristiano Ronaldo is back at Old Trafford, much to the delight of the fans. He was strongly linked with a switch to Manchester City, but it was with their neighbors that Ronaldo signed for.

He was brought in for goals, and he has provided the club with exactly that. Ronaldo has scored 13 goals and made two assists in 18 appearances for Manchester United so far.

As strange as the reduction in value seems, Ronaldo is 36 and market valuations take the age of a footballer's into account. Ronaldo's valuation of €35 million is still one of the highest among footballers at a similar stage in their careers.

#4 Pierre Emerick Aubameyang: -€10M

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have already played his last Premier League game.
Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have already played his last Premier League game.

Since his last contract renewal, it has been some fall from grace for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese forward has been a shadow of his former self and his poor performances have contributed to Arsenal's struggles in recent times.

Although Aubameyang has been better this time around than last season, it's still far off his standards.

Aubameyang has scored seven goals in 15 appearances this season, but that's primarily due to an EFL Cup hat-trick. He has managed only four goals in 14 Premier League appearances and is now embroiled in a controversy that has kept him out of Arsenal's last four games.

With one and half years left on his contract and an increasing age, Aubameyang is valued at only €15 million.

#3 Kevin De Bruyne: -€10M

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has not looked like himself in the Premier League this season.
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has not looked like himself in the Premier League this season.

Kevin De Bruyne is considered by many to be the best midfielder in the Premier League at the moment. Such has been the performance of the Belgian that his name has been lobbied for the biggest individual reward in the game.

De Bruyne earned a place in the IFFHS men's world XI of 2021 despite not being at his best. With so much time left on his existing contract, it may surprise few to see the Belgian's valuation decrease.

While De Bruyne has stayed injury-free in the Premier League this season barring a COVID infection, he hasn't been up to his high standards. He has made 19 appearances already, but his game time of 1173 minutes has not been that high.

De Bruyne has also scored just five goals and made only one assist, which is poor by his standards. The relative off-form that Kevin De Bruyne finds himself in is perhaps the reason why his market valuation has now been reduced to €90 million.

Also get to know Kevin De Bruyne's wife, Michele Lacroix.

#2 Harry Kane: -€20M

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has struggled in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has struggled in the Premier League this season.

Harry Kane is one of the most high-profile names in the Premier League who has played well below his usual standards. The summer of 2021 linked Kane with a move to Manchester City and while Kane made his intentions clear, he was not allowed to leave.

It may have affected his morale as footballers often perform poorly if kept at a club against their will. Kane has been unable to produce performances that match his usual standards.

Nine goals and two assists may not seem that bad a return from 22 appearances. However, it is being skewed by Kane's performances in the Conference League, where the level of opponents is relatively low. Kane has struggled massively with just two goals in 14 matches in the Premier League.

His valuation has been reduced to €100 million, and it now remains to be seen if his suitors will still want his services in the next summer.

#1 Jack Grealish: -€20M

Manchester City star Jack Grealish is yet to get up and running in the Premier League this season.
Manchester City star Jack Grealish is yet to get up and running in the Premier League this season.

When Manchester City triggered the £100 million release clause for Jack Grealish, they were paying well above his market valuation back then. To justify his transfer fee, Grealish would have had to perform in extraordinary fashion, which is even harder to do in a world-class squad.

Jack Grealish has not been bad, but his valuation was always expected to come down given the inflation it received after his transfer.

In the current season, Grealish has now played 20 games and made six goal contributions. While Manchester City have such players who can cover the poor performances of an individual, the expectations on Grealish will certainly be more.

Manchester City fans will certainly hope to see the Englishman hitting the same form that made him the most important player for Aston Villa.
