Claudio Ranieri reveals Jamie Vardy will have final say on Arsenal transfer

The ball is in his court

The Jamie Vardy to Arsenal transfer saga rolls on but now we have confirmation as to who is going to decided whether it happens or not. Arsenal have met Leicester’s release clause and now as per the manager, it is up to the player to decide on the transfer.

“We want to keep him, Arsenal have said they will pay the full release clause, but he hasn’t accepted yet. He gets the last word.” Ranieri told Sky Italia

Vardy was the second top scorer last season one goal behind Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane. His fantastic form helped Leicester City lift an unlikely Premier League title. Vardy also broke the record for scoring in the most consecutive number of games in the Premier League.

He managed to score in 11 games in a row, one better than Van Nistelrooy's record which stood at 10. Wenger is aware of the problems he has upfront. Danny Welbeck suffered an unfortunate injury which has ruled him out for 9 months.

Olivier Giroud has been in good form in the past few weeks but had a long dry spell last season which he managed to break only on matchday 37. The fans have been crying out for a top striker to help take advantage of Mesut Ozil’s creativity.

Henry can’t understand Vardy’s hesitation

Jamie Vardy is no doubt a quality striker but there are doubts over whether he will fit into Arsenal’s style of play. Nevertheless, this should not be that difficult of a decision for him considering he has the chance of earning regular first team football.

Gunners’ legend Thierry Herny is perplexed as to why the 29-year-old is still to make a decision.” All I can say is if I was playing for Leicester and I had Arsenal coming, and I'm 29, I would have gone. But I'm not Jamie Vardy, Either he has another proposition on the table, or Arsenal doesn't seem attractive to him anymore.”

Vardy’s delay is understandable considering the season he has had with his teammates in 2015/16 but at the same time, it is not wise to keep Wenger waiting considering the manager made the first move and also the status of a club like Arsenal.
