Olympique de Marseille v Atalanta BC: Semi-Final First Leg - UEFA Europa League 2023/24
Le Havre and Olympique Marseille lock horns in Ligue 1 on Sunday

Le Havre and Olympique Marseille will be seeking to end the 2023-24 Ligue 1 campaign on a high when they square off in the final matchday on Sunday. The hosts sit three points above the relegation zone, but a stronger goal difference over 16th-placed Metz will keep them afloat, while Jean-Louis Gasset‘s men will be looking to secure European football.

Le Havre were denied consecutive wins for the first time since January as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of OGC Nice on Wednesday.

This followed a 3-1 victory over Strasbourg at the Stade Oceane on May 4 which saw their run of six back-to-back games without a win come to an end.

With 32 points from 33 matches, Le Havre are currently 15th in the Ligue 1 table, three points above 16th-placed Metz in the relegation playoff spot. Le Havre head into the season finale with a +11 goal difference over Metz, who end the season with a home game against crowned champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, Marseille’s bid for European football suffered a huge blow in midweek as they fell to a somewhat disappointing 1-0 defeat against Stade Reims.

Prior to that, Gasset’s men were on a four-game unbeaten run in the league, claiming two draws before picking up consecutive victories over Lens and Lorient respectively.

With 47 points from 33 matches, Marseille are currently eighth in the Ligue 1 standings, three points behind sixth-placed Lens in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification spot.

Le Havre vs Olympique Marseille Head-To-Head

Olympique Marseille have been imperious in the history of this fixture, claiming eight wins and four draws in the last 12 meetings between the sides. Gasset’s side have won their last two visits to the Stade Oceane, scoring four goals and conceding once in that time.
