"He is going to play a massive part" - Pundit believes Mikel Arteta should use bit part Arsenal star more often as they chase PL title

According to former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, Arsenal’s pursuit of their first Premier League title in 19 years could see manager Mikel Arteta rely more on defender Kieran Tierney.

Despite an eight-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, Arsenal still face several tricky fixtures before the end of the season.

Lennon believes Arteta should use Tierney’s defensive skills in these games, particularly against City, instead of Oleksandr Zinchenko. Neil Lennon believes that the Ukrainian international is not as good a defender as Tierney.

The 25-year-old Scottish professional has struggled with injuries and lack of game time, featuring in only 29 games for the Gunners, mostly as a substitute. He has been linked with a summer move to Newcastle, but Lennon believes the Scot still has a lot to offer Arsenal.

Lennon, speaking to the Old Firm Derby betting, said via the UK Metro:

''I think he will be used between now and the end of the season and I think he is going to play a massive part in Mikel’s plans.''
''I watched him play left centre-half for Scotland against Spain and he was outstanding. He’s a brilliant player who has struggled with niggly injuries over the years and you hope he can get a good run of games," he added.

The former Scotland international tipped the Premier League title race to go down to the wire, with Arsenal’s lead not a comfortable one yet. He also warned that City could quickly close the gap if they win their game in hand and beat Arsenal when they play in a few weeks.

While Zinchenko is in-form and continues to start at left-back, Arteta could opt for Tierney’s more dynamic play and strong defensive skills to help Arsenal see out the season.

Kieran Tierney’s future at Arsenal may be uncertain, but Neil Lennon's words of praise will definitely give him some relief.
