"Hopefully he won’t drop me" - Chelsea star claims he threw a bottle at boss Mauricio Pochettino after Arsenal's equalizer in 2-2 draw

Chelsea summer signing Cole Palmer has confessed that he accidentally threw a bottle at Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino during their 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the weekend. The English forward revealed that he apologized to the tactician properly after the game and joked that hopefully he won't be dropped because of the incident.

Cole Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in a deal worth €47 million during the summer transfer window, as per Transfermarkt. The attacker was given the nod to start the Premier League clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and he made the opportunity count.

The 21-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 15th minute before Mykhaylo Mydryk doubled their advantage in the 48th minute. The Blues looked in control of the game but Declan Rice capitalized on an error by goalkeeper Rob Sanchez in the 77th minute to halve the deficit. Leandro Trossard's 84th minute strike ensured that the spoils were shared in the London derby.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, the former Manchester City star explained how the incident unfolded, saying:

"When they scored their second goal I was getting a drink. I went to throw the bottle away, as you do, but didn’t look. I just saw it loop dead slow and hit the gaffer. I said sorry to him and apologised properly after the game. Hopefully he won’t drop me for that!"

Despite the incident, Cole Palmer added he gets on well with his manager.

"We get on well. I try to show him every day in training what I can do. Work hard and just try to repay him because he puts a lot of faith in us," he said about their relationship.

Cole Palmer is off to a promising start at Chelsea

Cole Palmer made his debut appearance for Chelsea during the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League back in September. Since then, Palmer has made six more appearances for the Blues across all competitions, recording two goals and as many assists.

The fact that Mauricio Pochettino gave him the nod to feature against a team like Arsenal shows just how much the tactician believes in his abilities. The player seems to be enjoying his time at Stamford Bridge as well as he recently told the club's website:

"I’m loving it here at Chelsea. Every day is good, even off the pitch with the lads. There’s a good vibe here and everything’s good, so I’m loving it. I came to Chelsea to try to make an impact. I’m happy I’ve done it straight away. Credit to the lads, the lads are all good, helped me settle in and stuff, but I’ve just got to try to improve every day and give more and more."
