Pundit urges Liverpool to use Darwin Nunez in swap deal and sign Chelsea transfer target in the summer

Darwin Nunez has been a subject of scrutiny in the past few weeks.

Ex-Aston Villa and West Ham United midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has told Liverpool to include Darwin Nunez in a potential swap deal to sign Chelsea-linked star Victor Osimhen this summer.

Nunez, who left Benfica to join the Reds in a potential £85 million deal in 2022, has received a lot of flak for his poor finishing of late. He has missed 26 big chances in 33 Premier League matches this season.

Discussing the 24-year-old Uruguayan's efforts in front of goal, Reo-Coker claimed that Nunez is not good enough for a club of Liverpool's stature. He said (h/t TBR):

"The chances that he is getting are not half chances. They are creating it for him, and for the striker and the money that they paid for him, he needs to be taking those chances. He is not good enough."

Urging the Reds to rope in the Chelsea target, Reo-Coker continued:

"If I was Liverpool, yes, you are going to lose [Mohamed] Salah, you can probably find a good enough replacement, but for me, it's that goalscorer. Nunez, it's either you give him another chance or you try now to trade him with another club where you could maybe swap Nunez and bring in some top European strikers out there, whether that's Victor Boniface, Osimhen or [someone]."

Osimhen, who netted 31 times in 39 matches last campaign, has failed to replicate past term's form for Napoli this season. The 25-year-old has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions so far.

Nunez, on the other hand, has bagged 18 goals in 51 matches for Liverpool so far this season. Despite his poor record in front of goal, he has impressed with his 13 assists in 2,977 minutes of first-team action.

Liverpool eyeing move for Dutch forward

According to Anfield Sector, Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Leeds United man Crysencio Summerville on reported new manager Arne Slot's orders. Slot is said to be an admirer of the 22-year-old and previously tried to add the star to his ranks at Dutch side Feyenoord.

Summerville, who left Feyenoord's academy to join Leeds in 2020, has established himself as one of Leeds' most prolific attackers this campaign. He has recorded 20 goals and provided 10 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for Daniel Farke's English outfit.

Should Summerville join the Merseyside outfit this summer, he would emerge as a great rotational option for them. He would offer competition to Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo on the left flank next term.
