Bayern Munich could reportedly target Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes this summer, with Thomas Tuchel potentially playing a big role in it. English news outlet Mirror has reported that Fernandes is exactly the kind of player Tuchel wants at Bayern if he is to continue with the German club.

Bayern Munich and Tuchel announced (on February 21, 2024) the mutual decision to part ways this summer. However, the latest reports indicate that Bayern have reportedly failed to land their target replacements, which could result in Tuchel being offered the chance to continue the job.

Tuchel, on his part, has reportedly sought confirmation on Bayern's transfer plans, with demands like bringing in Bruno Fernandes to the club, if the German is to continue as manager next season. He reportedly feels a player of Fernandes' caliber showcases the statement of intent for him to continue at Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian giants have reportedly failed to land Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick as their next manager. They are set to end a trophyless season after losing the Bundesliga title to Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen and being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals at the hands of Real Madrid.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes provides update on transfer rumors

Bruno Fernandes' future at Manchester United has come under the scanner of late, with the player linked to Bayern Munich and the Saudi Pro League (via Optus Sport).

However, the Red Devils captain cleared the doubts by voicing his side of the situation. Speaking after United's 3-2 win over Newcastle United in the last home game of the season at Old Trafford, Fernandes said (via Optus Sport):

"If they want me, I will stay. I will be here until (then). I said the club needs to want me. I feel that the club wants me to be a part of the future, so, as I said always, I don't want to be a player that the club doesn't want to have."

United manager Erik ten Hag reiterated the importance of Fernandes, adding:

"Absolutely the club wants to keep Bruno. There's no question, I think. He gives always his best. He's an example, even with injuries he's playing. He loves football, but he wants to win."
"I'm very pleased with his performances across the season because for him, it's not easy when so many players are injured around him and every time, he has to carry the team," Ten Hag concluded.

Fernandes has registered 15 goals and 12 assists across competitions this season. His current contract with Manchester United is set to expire in 2026.
