Real Madrid will try to sign Bayer Leverkusen superstar in 2025 - Reports
Real Madrid will try to sign one Bayer Leverkusen player next year

Real Madrid are reportedly set to sign Bayer Leverkusen talent Florian Wirtz in 2025, two years ahead of his contract expiration date. The 21-year-old has arguably been the best player in the Bundesliga this season, with his performances attracting attention from juggernaut clubs across Europe.

Wirtz has been a vital cornerstone in Bayer Leverkusen's ongoing unbeaten season in all competitions. In the Bundesliga, he has been a thorn in the side of other German clubs, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists across 31 appearances. In the Europa League, he has four goals and four assists in 10 games.

Clearly, Wirtz has impressed the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy with his performances, and the club are now reportedly starting their plans to sign him in 2025. According to a report from Marca (via 90min), the Spanish giants don't wish to rush negotiations and will look to take their time to discuss with the German and convince his representatives.

It is also possible that a move for Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso could be underway in the same period, with Carlo Ancelotti's contract expiring in 2025. This could potentially see Wirtz and his manager join up with the club at the same time, which could improve the playmaker's adaptation to Spain.

Real Madrid manager Ancelotti hails team

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes the club can become a dominant force for years to come, thanks to their talented core of young players. The legendary coach was full of praise for his side after their comfortable 5-0 win over Alaves in La Liga and told the press how highly he thinks of the team.

Speaking after the match, the Real Madrid manager said:

“The squad is extremely talented, with very young people and a great deal of quality. This club can mark an era in the future considering the value of the young players we have at the moment. It's been my best season as a coach.
"The team did fantastically well in the league, we won it unreservedly and without a shadow of a doubt. Everyone was waiting for the slip-up, but it didn't come. We're happy and on cloud nine. But we have to keep going because we haven't played the most important match yet.”

Real Madrid have been magnificent this season, winning their domestic league at a canter. They also have a Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund set to be played at Wembley. The Spanish side will look to make it 15 UEFA Champions League wins when they take on their German opponents and cap off a fantastic season.
