Arsenal secured a comfortable 2-1 win over Sevilla.

Arsenal secured a comfortable 2-1 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 24.

The Gunners entered this contest on the back of a 2-2 draw against Chelsea in their last league outing. Their last UCL game was a 2-1 defeat against RC Lens - a game which the Ligue 1 side played with great spirit.

However, Mikel Arteta was eager to restore his team's winning ways as he went with a full-strength lineup for this contest.

Arsenal and Sevilla both made a good start to the game as they looked to grab the early initiative in the contest with a goal. However, the sides had just two shots on target between them in the first period, with both attempts by the Gunners.

The visitors created good early momentum and looked sharp in attack with their young players. Sevilla seemed well-equipped to deal with this threat with their veteran backline but eventually conceded on the cusp of half-time.

Gabriel Jesus provided an assist to compatriot Gabriel Martinelli, who made no mistake to put Arsenal 1-0 up just before the interval.

Arsenal made a lovely start to the second period and doubled their lead just eight minutes after the restart. This time, Declan Rice turned provider for Jesus, who scored with a composed finish to make it 2-0 after 53 minutes. This goal allowed the Gunners some breathing room.

However, they could not relax for long as Sevilla got back into the game shortly after. Ivan Rakitic assisted Nemanja Gudelj with a delightful pass as the Serbian defender scored to make it 2-1 after 58 minutes.

Sevilla dominated possession towards the closing stages of the game but could not find a way to draw level with Arsenal as they secured a 2-1 win.
