Conor McGregor is known for always defending what he believes is right, and it was no different when he responded to Justin Gaethje's earlier comments in a wild manner on social media.

The Irishman remains the biggest name the sport of mixed martial arts has ever produced and despite only winning once in the cage since 2016, he has managed to retain his superstardom. The TUF 31 coach is desperate to get back to winning ways and will have that chance against Michael Chandler next time out.

After Gaethje insisted that he would leave the sport if Conor McGregor was gifted a title shot, 'The Notorious' unleashed an onslaught at his fellow UFC competitor, labeling the brawler a "braindead fool."

"This braindead fool got a title shot off of one single win and it was vs. Chandler. Yet he will quit and retire if I get the same thing? Classic Gaethje bird brain. Jacka**. Two title attempts, no wins."

Justin Gaethje has shared his disdain for McGregor over the years and has welcomed a matchup with the former two-division UFC champion, though nothing has ever come to fruition between the two. The title challenger's hatred for the Dublin native is so strong that he will consider leaving the promotion.

In his last outing, the war-ready lightweight produced yet another fight-of-the-night spectacle, this time in a victory over rising star Rafael Fiziev, a man many expected to beat the aging veteran.

Conor McGregor title shot: Will a win put the Irishman next in line for a chance at UFC gold?

Although there is no confirmed date as of yet, Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler are expected to collide in the octagon towards the end of the year following the conclusion of the 31st rendition of The Ultimate Fighter.

While nothing has been made official as of yet, rumors are reporting that a win could see the brash three-division competitor leapfrog the rest of the weight class and slide into a title shot opportunity.

Both Leon Edwards and Islam Makhachev have welcomed potential fights with the star, and whilst it may not make much sense in terms of rankings, it is understandable that special treatment is given to a name as big as Conor McGregor.
