Jorge Masvidal has vicious plans in England for Leon Edwards matchup

Jorge Masvidal's return to the octagon will come against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in front of a hometown Miami crowd. The No.11-ranked welterweight shared his aspirations to face Leon Edwards for the welterweight title in his next bout.

Speaking at the UFC 287 media day, 'Gamebred' stated:

"I never underestimate anybody that has two hands and two feet, but I don't stop thinking about also that after this fight, I'm going to England. I'm going to use that belt to beat it over Leon's head and then come back to this great country and defend that belt. It's not something that I don't think of in the back of my mind, definitely, but first it's versus Gilbert."

Jorge Masvidal added:

"Eliminate him in an impressive fashion and there'll be talk of nobody else fighting for nothing else but me. Last I checked, UFC is a pay-per-view selling business. Colby ain't never broke 300,000 pay-per-views in his life, except when he fought me. Leon's not a pay-per-view draw. All of a sudden, what, they're just putting on events just to put them on? I don't think so, so as long as I do my job Saturday, everything else will fall into place."

Jorge Masvidal has been linked to a potential bout with Jake Paul in the future. Speaking to Karisa Maxwell of The Sporting News, 'Gamebred' revealed that he no interest in facing the former YouTube star, stating:

"What am I doing fighting this guy? Two things are why I signed up for this sport - to fight the best in the world or to make the most money possible. He doesn't fit either of those criterias. So, would I see Jake Paul right now and allegedly just beat his a**? Yeah, I would, but in a prize-fighting ring? It doesn't really serve me a purpose because I'm a prize fighter, and he doesn't bring a prize in any way shape or form."

Masvidal claimed that the social media personality is not a draw. He claimed Paul is attempting to boost his name by calling him out ahead of his UFC 287 clash with Gilbert Burns, alleging that the former YouTube star runs away when they cross paths in person.
