ONE Championship continues to add the best of the best athletes in the striking arts to their roster, as they recently signed Japanese kickboxing star Masaaki Noiri in an exclusive multi-fight contract.
Noiri will join the growing list of Japanese fighters under the world's largest martial arts organization, and his compatriot Takeru Segawa, who signed his very contract with the promotion last year, was hyped for his arrival.
In a recent Instagram post, 'The Natural Born Crusher' even posted a photo with the 30-year-old and captioned it with:
"Masaaki's contract gives him another reason to continue fighting. Thank you for the great inspiration and motivation. Let's reach the top of the world together."
Both Takeru and Noiri are absolute legends in K-1, as they both won championships across multiple weight classes. Additionally, Noiri was a former WBC Japanese Muay Thai Champion.
The newly signed kickboxing star will compete in the featherweight division, where Chingiz Allazov reigns as the kickboxing king. Other mouth-watering matchups are ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon, Marat Grigorian, Tawanchai PK Saenchai, and Giorgio Petrosyan.
Takeru aims to bounce back after promotional defeat at the hands of Superlek Kiatmoo9
On January 24, Takeru finally made his much-awaited debut in ONE Championship and was pitted against the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion, Superlek Kiatmoo9, in the main event of ONE 165.
Unfortunately, he received a unanimous decision loss after five entertaining rounds of battle inside the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Despite the setback, he earned the respect of 'The Kicking Machine' for being a tough opponent.
Aside from the stain on his professional record, the Team Vasileus representative also sustained a muscle tear in his upper arm, which required a few months before he could officially return to training.
Some of the possible opponents that he could face next are Taiki Naito, Tagir Khalilov, and Elias Mahmoudi.
