Over the course of the past few months, boxing legend Floyd 'Money' Mayweather has been heavily linked with a potential jump to the world of Mixed Martial Arts. While speaking with TMZ Sports on Monday, Mayweather himself provided an update regarding his move to MMA and eventually to the UFC.

Back in August of 2017, former UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor finally stepped foot into a boxing ring for the very first time in his career. 'The Notorious One' squared off in a boxing bout against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather, who earned his 50th career victory after gaining a 10th round win over McGregor via Technical Knockout, was seemingly done with the sport.
The heart of the matter
The 50-0 record fighter plans to apply for an MMA license and currently remains hopeful that it would be eventually granted to him, thus allowing him to compete in an MMA cage within the next few months.
“Everything takes time, and eventually, we’re gonna apply for the license and hopefully we can fight.”- Mayweather noted.
Mayweather believes the chances are that he will probably need a little longer to apply for the license—presumably up to six to eight months. But despite the realistic time frame, Mayweather and his team are eventually going to make sure that everything is done correctly, and everything is done the right way.

Current UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley recently made a big statement and claimed that he will be training Floyd “Money” Mayweather for his debut in the world of MMA and tha “The Chosen One” will also help Mayweather in setting up his potential move to the Octagon.

If Mayweather does step into the UFC Octagon in the near future, then we can certainly expect him to square off in a rematch against 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor. McGregor, who is a former and first-ever two-division world champion, is yet to step into the Octagon since his win over Eddie Alvarez back at UFC 205 in 2016.
