5 Legends Seth Rollins should face after Sting

Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins would surely put on a classic on any given day

Seth Rollins cutting a promo on Monday Night RawSeth Rollins is on his way to the biggest night of his career as WWE world champion at Night of Champions. John Cena is on deck for the United States Championship and The Icon Sting is ready to win the one belt he’s never had; the company’s top title.Either match would be a main event anywhere in the world, but both on the same night spells history in the making for Seth. Win or lose, he will arguably never be the same again as he should come out of NOC stronger and better for the experience. But Sting may not be the last legend he faces as a win could be just the beginning of veteran challengers to the championship.Technically, retaining the belt would be the only way to assure there would be legends lining up to take a run at Rollins. Seth’s boasting and arrogance are enough to draw the ire of any superstar that has been affected by his words and the best way to shut him up is to take the gold. But a loss could make it happen as well, as Seth would perhaps be on the path to facing a legend that is currently his mentor. It’s an exciting time for the champ right now, but it could get a lot more interesting.

#5 Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins would surely put on a classic on any given day

Chris Jericho made a career out of bragging, showboating and running his mouth. One by one he made fans hate him and love him at the same time. His cockiness was matched only by his ability, which kept him among the elite in the industry and propelled him to the top of WWE. If any of that sounds familiar, it should. Seth Rollins is doing the same thing right now.

This makes Y2J perhaps the perfect opponent for Rollins. Jericho has lived the life Rollins has right now, which means he has already learned from his mistakes and is better because of it. Jericho knows what it’s like to walk the path of the arrogant champion and he did it with such flair that he could shoot Rollins on how to conduct himself now. The fact that he could also take his belt would be an added bonus.

The fact is Jericho’s main event career is over, which means he would likely not become the new WWE world heavyweight champion. His presence in the company again would be only to give the rub off to Rollins, to help him sharpen his image as the best hand on the roster. Y2J is no stranger to giving back, as that has become his role in recent years.

Seth may not need the help that much but for many fans that are unhappy with his title run, a match against Jericho could be exactly what’s needed to up his respect level immensely.

#4 The Rock

The Rock at WrestleMania 31

Unlike Chris Jericho, The Rock is not exactly in the game to put guys over. When The People’s Champ does come back to the fold, he does so to main event on a massive stage and when he does, he often wins.

John Cena may have been the exception to that rule but for the most part, Rocky has not been booked in order to help anyone else. But that could change with Rollins.

As Triple H gets more power in WWE, he becomes more influential and that means his vision for the company is becoming clearer. The man that brought NXT to the masses and has such faith in that younger talent is the same man that likely does view Rollins as the legit future of WWE.

With that being the case, he could conceivably book The Rock to come in for a match against Seth with the understanding that he’s there not to win the belt but to give the rub. While there’s no guarantee this would happen, it’s evident that just to be in the same ring with The Rock is enough to get the world talking about Seth Rollins.

Seth’s name would be mentioned everywhere in connection to The Rock, especially if their match were to happen at WrestleMania 32. It’s all speculation at this point but what’s not in doubt is that Seth needs more exposure on the mainstream stage and he could very well only gain that with the help of The Great One.

#3 Kane

Kane’s eventual return could be bad for Rollins

Kane and Seth Rollins have one of the oddest relationships of any two superstars in WWE. Not since Daniel Bryan had a guy gotten under the skin of The Big Red Machine so badly that all hell broke loose as a result.

Rollins tested Kane at every turn. He mocked him, made fun of his age and criticized the fact he was never the top guy in WWE. While Kane had been ordered to protect Rollins and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship he wore, Seth was adamant about not needing help. He was also not shy about reminding Kane of that fact every time they shared the same screen together.

Kane has been off TV for a while now, but it’s safe to say there is some unfinished business between he and Seth.

That means when The Big Red Monster does come back, he could have Seth in his sights. Rollins is at his best when he’s reacting, playing defense to the threat that’s before him. His reactions, his facial expressions, everything about him becomes more entertaining the more he begins to panic. Seeing Kane marching down the ramp wearing the black and red gear while fireballs reign on stage would be just the right amount of threat to make Seth panic for days on end.

#2 The Undertaker

The Undertaker makes his entrance at SummerSlam 2015

The Undertaker is just the right mix of Jericho and The Rock and that’s good for Seth Rollins.

Like Y2J, Taker is not above helping the younger talent as he was willing to let The Shield take him off TV in 2013. But like The Rock, Taker was not quite as willing to put over the younger talent in the ring as he won against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31. However in both cases, just working the legend is good for the other guy.

Seth is the other guy now, as he could eventually be faced with The Deadman.

Undertaker versus Seth Rollins may not be the main event of WrestleMania 32, but it could perhaps happen before 2016. Taker versus Rollins would be very similar to Taker versus Edge, but it could ultimately lead to a third bout involving Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate could interfere in a title match between The Deadman and Rollins, exacting revenge for the events at Battleground.

Taker prevented Lesnar from winning the belt back that night and Lesnar could return the favor now.

Undertaker knows how to do business and he knows talent when he sees it. With both of those combined, it becomes very clear that he is perhaps the best legend available to work Seth and help him continue to write his legacy in WWE.

#1 Triple H

Triple H with his trusty sledgehammer at WrestleMania 31

This is the one fans have been talking about almost from the moment Seth Rollins betrayed The Shield in 2014. Like Randy Orton and Batista before him, Seth is now a student of The Game and that means the clock is ticking. Eventually, the partnership between the two men will end and when it does, it will likely not be on very good terms.

Hunter is very accustomed to having full control and that control includes the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Seth has been the good soldier thus far, but there have been some bumps in the road recently. Like Orton, Seth’s ego has gone out of control and it’s taken both Hunter with Stephanie McMahon to reel him back in.

The Game has provided protection in the form of The Authority but even that was not enough for Rollins, he still found a way to irritate everyone around him. Now his toughest challenge is ahead of him at Night of Champions. If he can’t pull this off and walk away with the gold, then he may be answering to Triple H himself.

Fans believe this is how their alliance will end and it’s hard to argue the point. Doom is surely on the horizon for these two and it’s probably only a matter of time until the end comes. When that happens, Seth could actually beat The Game and take that win to go higher than he is right now. Fans know Hunter is committed developing the future of WWE but whether or not he’s willing to do that personally in the ring is anyone’s guess.
