Apollo Crews

Undertaker and Brock LesnarThis week, the rumor mill had its fair share of buzz as usual. SummerSlam proved to be the major talking point once again for the dirt sheets. WWEs plans to add a major stipulation for the main event of the pay-per-view got a lot of attention. Elsewhere, the big returns that will happen before the show proved to be another speculation. And from what we know, WWE has finally found a way to take the United States Championship from John Cena. All these and some NXT news were the top rumors that came across this week. With that said, here is a detailed look at them and their possible implications.

#5 WWE high on Apollo Crews

Apollo Crews

Sesugh Uhaa came into WWE with a pile of expectations on his shoulder. He wrestled as Uhaa Nation in the independent circuits and had enough talent in him to impress the WWE scouts. WWE soon snatched him up and rechristened him as Apollo Crews. He is yet to make his television debut but he has already gathered some buzz thanks to his new name.

Crews is set to make his debut at the NXT Takeover event in Brooklyn and the WWE officials are high on him. We could see him climb the ladder faster than we expect so don’t be surprised. The push might wear off soon, but enjoy while it lasts.

#4 First NXT call up to get a title shot

Charlotte

The three NXT divas that got a recent call up are stealing the show. Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks have managed to produce impressive performances so far. WWE is ready to give them a bigger exposure in the form of a title shot. First in line is none other than Charlotte. She got a great boost against Nikki Bella recently and the company is likely to follow this up by giving her a title shot.

Elsewhere, Bayley could get her call up soon. Bayley will work in the Brooklyn event, irrespective of her main event status. Eva Marie might also get a spot on that NXT card and it would be interesting to see how the Brooklyn crowd welcomes her.

#3 US Championship to become vacant

John Cena

John Cena and Seth Rollins will have a match at SummerSlam with a winner takes it all stipulation. As things stand now, Rollins is the favorite to win the match and in turn, he will hold both the WWE Championship and the United States Championship. However, WWE is not interested in doing the same and may make the winner vacate the United States Championship.

The idea is to take the US title away from Cena without hurting him and at the same time, it adds more depth to the Rollins – Cena feud. The plans could change in the coming weeks and after all, these are just rumors that poke up in the Internet.

#2 Big returns ahead of SummerSlam

Dolph Ziggler

WWE will get some huge boosts ahead of SummerSlam as two of their superstars are slated to return. First in the list is Dolph Ziggler. He has been kept out of television due to his film commitments, but he will apparently be back one week before SummerSlam. The fans could expect a feud between Rusev and Ziggler when “The Showoff” returns.

The second superstar who will return ahead of SummerSlam is Ryback. The Intercontinental champion was sidelined due to a staph infection but is expected to recover in time for the show. The case of John Cena is still cloudy, but he is pushing to be there for the pay-per-view.

#1 Huge stipulation to be added to the SummerSlam main event

WWE is eager to make SummerSlam a grand success and their latest move to do the same could come in the form of a stipulation for the main event. The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar match could get a ‘retirement’ stipulation so that the excitement levels are on an all-time high. Undertaker is most likely to be on the receiving side and since Lesnar broke the streak last time around, this stipulation is sure to make matters interesting.

The current word going around the block is about Taker winning the match. If he does that, the stipulation will only serve as a dramatic factor. However, if Taker does not win, then it will go down in the history books as his last match.
