What should WWE do with Dean Ambrose?

Should Ambrose wait for the iron to get hot?

What’s next for ‘The Lunatic Fringe’?Sometimes, it’s not always the nice guy who finishes last. While Dean Ambrose is still considered one of the rising stars of WWE and a fan favorite, it would appear the all too familiar heel turn will take place sometime between now and the end of the year at a pay-per-view near you.The brotherly love between Ambrose and former Shield mate Roman Reigns has gotten to Happy Days proportions, the kind of relationship you know will end in a messy divorce with WWE’s fan base trying to decide who to support in a time like this. All too often, when there is a divorce, friends have issues trying to decide to who leave the party with. Here is hoping there is an amicable split among the WWE nation and both competitors still feel the love when they get in the ring, although that is not always the case.Ambrose is the genuine article when it comes to his unorthodox style in the ring and on camera. An anti-hero with a renegade attitude. A style that is reminiscent of Roddy Piper, Steve Austin, Brian Pillman and a little CM Punk to balance the scales a bit. There are many layers of depth to this character – which makes him valuable to WWE’s plans in the future. What that future is right now, is anyone’s guess. It is possible management has no clue yet either. The build for Roman Reigns’ final test and the eventual title switch between him and Seth Rollins has been slow and deliberate. There can be no failure with this. Fans will revolt. So what does the company do with Ambrose in the meantime? Here are three ideas…

#1 Do Nothing

Should Ambrose wait for the iron to get hot?

Leave the storyline the way it is. The last thing WWE wants is to see ratings decline even further than they have over the last month. Sometimes standing pat is the best move.

Right now, it appears the storyline will continue as Reigns is the top contender for the WWE World Title and is set to face Seth Rollins at Survivor Series. Ambrose continues to fill the role of cheerleader for Reigns and then turns on him at some point for stealing his chance at glory.

Ambrose has a chance to be a mega star as a face now that there seems to be a new direction with the company, but his best chance to get over with the fans is to turn on Reigns and get heat from the IWC.

The story seems to be headed in that direction, so let it just happen. Forcing it would be crushing to this build.

#2 Taking Another Path

Ambrose vs Owens is a tanatlizing option

I like the idea of putting him a spot where he challenges for the mid-card titles. Deciding which title and which champion he faces could be a tough call to make.

Because of the character, Kevin Owens and the Intercontinental Title makes more sense. The angle would be more appealing to the fans. Owens’s ability in the ring matches well with Ambrose. There is also that chance for more hardcore wrestling in this type of program.

For the comedic value, a program with both Alberto Del Rio and Zeb Colter is perfect. Can you image the off the wall antics of Ambrose clashing with Colter, which in turn clashes with Del Rio?

In the ring, I am not sure if the styles will mesh well, as Del Rio is more deliberate and Ambrose is more impromptu. Also, if Ambrose jumps from the Reigns angle, it diminishes the ability to promote the soon-to-be champion and his uphill battle to get to the top.

#3 A Feud With Sheamus

A feud that could set up the future

It’s funny to think someone who is a multiple-time world champion would need Dean Ambrose to get over. That is exactly what could happen.

Sheamus is in the hell like situation, wrestlers are trying to avoid. And now, WWE cannot figure out what to do with him. A briefcase stands in the way of the Irishman winning a title and becoming the new jobber to the stars.

Kevin Owens and Bray Wyatt helped elevate Ryback to a title run. Maybe the path taken by Sheamus in a program with Ambrose leads to better booking. One can hope at least. The thing is Ambrose had a bit part in Hell in a Cell. Sheamus had a meaningless six-man match and looked sluggish doing it.

These two can help each other out and gives Ambrose something to do while pondering how to take the title from Reigns or ruins his chance of getting the title in the first place.
