5 Reasons Kane Needs to Beat Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell

Kane has frequently had a hand in Rollins’ victories in recent months.

Seth Rollins and Kane certainly met in the ring before joining forces as part of The Authority. The matchup between Seth Rollins and Kane at Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view might be seen by some as a no-brainer victory for Rollins to retain his World Heavyweight Championship. He might win, but the smarter play could actually be for Kane to come out victorious. The stipulation on the match certainly lends itself to a victory. If Kane in his demon form loses the match, Corporate Kane must forfeit his storyline position as Director of Operations. If that's not enough, here's five more reasons Kane should win

#1 Rollins needs to lose

Kane has frequently had a hand in Rollins’ victories in recent months.

It is no secret that Rollins has not had the most impressive of title runs. Simply put, he's been booked in his first singles run of any kind as someone who cannot win without help, cheating or sheer luck, and he runs from adversity as much as possible.

Rollins is a wildly talented entertainer who needs to shake this chicken-crap persona, and the quickest way to do that is by losing the belt. Then his character can start over and build himself back up as a legitimate threat in the WWE

#2 Advance the break-up

Rollins has been part of The Authority since deserting The Shield last summer.

Cracks have been developing The Authority’s cohesiveness for months now, usually related to Rollins’ arrogance and poor treatment of other group members. In fact, his actions toward an injured Kane are why the demon returned to create this match.

Kane defeating Rollins and taking his belt with incentives from Triple H and Stephanie McMahon could launch the final phase of that break-up. An angry Rollins could realize that the bosses don't have his best interest at heart and finally end the stale Authority storyline, at least in its current form

#3 Open up the story

Trouble has been brewing between Rollins and Kane for months.

As champion, Rollins has faced essentially all of the logical faces to challenge his title. He held off Randy Orton, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns with Kane’s help, and he's beaten Ambrose head-to-head a couple times. More recently, he beat John Cena in a title-for-title match.

Others could step up, but we pretty much know how those matches would or should go down based on booking. With Kane as champion, however, the story is much more open for variation. Plus, his legacy is already cemented, so he could “do the job” for someone like Reigns to become the next big face

#4 Booking requires it

Kane has been booked as a true monster since his demon form returned.

WWE has not always been logical with its booking in recent years, but this is a chance to do things right. And doing things right means booking Kane in this match as strongly as he's been booked to this point in this feud.

In addition to terrorizing Rollins, Kane turned away every heel on the roster just by sitting up during a lumberjack match. That included The New Day, a group that has been dominating everyone they've faced. Following that by having him lose to Rollins would make very little sense

#5 Proper send-off

Kane has quite a history in the WWE.

Whether you like Kane’s more recent character iterations or not, his hard work in the business can't be denied. While other wrestlers with similar resumeshave gone part-time or demanded main-event roles, Kane has seemingly done whatever was asked of him.

With that in mind and knowing that his retirement can't be far off, one final world title run - even a brief one - would be a fitting send-off for one of the company’s most loyal soldiers. Further, it could open up a fantastic retirement storyline where someone has to stop the monster for the final time.
