WWE RAW 22nd February 2016 - 3 Things that did not work

Roman Reigns is still not over

The McMahons sharing the spotlight on RAWIt was a tremendously fun episode of Raw which was marked by one of the biggest returns of the year and in a while. It was also marked by the main event storyline being something where fans are arduously booing the babyface and cheering every attack put forth by the heel. The time when Wrestlemania fever begins is upon us. The journey is officially underway and two more matches were made official. But there were initial glitches as well, one especially so jarring, that we really don’t know how it’s going to survive until Wrestlemania. Here are the 3 things that did not work

#1 Roman Reigns - The King. Not

Roman Reigns is still not over

Roman Reigns is not someone you can call a hero – he’s not. He’s a great performer with a great presence but the people are just not behind him. Triple H decimated Reigns to the point that the Samoan was busted open.

The crowd cheered every moment of it. They cheered when the heel in the narrative took Reigns down and gave him quite a beating on the road to Wrestlemania. How is Wrestlemania supposed to be Reigns’ coronation if this is how he’ll be met by the fans?

And rest assured, Dallas will have a fair share of such fans.

This night was just testament to how WWE just don’t know how to do what they are trying to do with Reigns and that’s getting him over as the face of the company.

#2 The Big Guy alone again

The Big Guy Walks Out of the match

The potential of it really depends on what the future holds, and as far as past experiences go, to be excited about another Ryback push is just too much to ask. Ryback bailed on his teammates during a second match with the Wyatt Family, and according to him, it was because he’s done with tag teams and is ready to wrestle solo again.

Add that with his new trunks and revamped attitude, he’s off for another journey that the audience is supposed to watch but really it’s been more than 3 years since we’ve been wondering when will Ryback get over.

Hope now is the time.

#3 Shane O\'Mac\'s storyline thus far

Shane McMahon accused Stephanie McMahon of leading the company to the ground

Even though it was fun having Shane O’Mac back, it was a bit unsettling to hear him churn out some highly doubtful facts about Stephanie McMahon and Triple H’s business potential. Where does he get these facts? Oh wait, right, it was all mentioned in vague terms.

Anyway, what is a teeny-weeny bit doubtful is how fun can they make someone as old as Undertaker wrestling a ‘non-wrestler’ in a 46-year-old Shane O’Mac and well we’ve been out of the Attitude Era for more than 15 years now.

Well, it’s too early to say but this was just one of the few glitches from an otherwise fun segment.
