WWE RAW 25 January 2016- 3 things that worked

Owens was really pissed off on Raw

Royal Rumble was a really fun PPV. The eponymous match was well written from the beginning till the end, even if there is speculation that Triple H eliminating Reigns before Ambrose was a last minute call because it was the right call since Reigns was being booed just like the last edition for the PPV.For those fans who enjoyed the PPV, the fallout episode of Raw was much anticipated. How does the story between The Game and the Big Dog continue as the Road to Wrestlemania kicks off? How will AJ Styles debut on Raw? Will he start a feud with Kevin Owens? There were many interesting possibilities to look forward to.Here are the 3 things that worked-

#3 Kevin Owens

Owens was really pissed off on Raw

Kevin Owens is a great pro wrestling character and he’s written that way. He had an insane Last Man Standing match against Dean Ambrose and he sold his injuries sustained during the match at the Rumble main event and on Raw.

Despite that he put on a decent match against Dolph Ziggler. There was no development on what happened at the Rumble where he eliminated AJ Styles after yelling, “Welcome to the WWE” at him or after being eliminated by long-time rival Sami Zayn. All these little instances add depth to whenever they have a feud brewing.

#2 AJ Styles debut

Styles had a really good Raw debut

AJ Styles was a huge part of the Rumble being successful. In a PPV that did not have many surprising entrants, he came in at number 3 and created quite a buzz that lasted until he was eliminated.

His name was chanted more than any other chant that night. He continued that momentum into Raw with a match against a guy who had a spectacular Raw debut himself years ago -Chris Jericho and it turned out to be something awesome.

He actually made you believe that he’d tap out to the Walls of Jericho. Styles won eventually and it achieved what it set out to do and made Styles look like someone to be followed.

#1 Triple H promo

Triple H’s promo was one of the highlights of the show

Triple H came to the arena to his first Motorhead theme song and not ‘King of Kings’ which would have been equally apt. He went onto have a terrific promo which wasn’t as dragged-along as most of his promos.

When Triple H gets it right with the right amount of words and emotions, it accentuates how well told a story can be in professional wrestling. Reigns disrespected him and his family and had no regard for authority as he went on to be champion.

Triple H just got his payback and there isn’t a darn thing Reigns or anybody else can do about it. Even if he doesn’t NEED that title due to his illustrious career. He just plain WANTED it because he couldn’t fathom Reigns carrying it and so he took it away.
