WWE RAW 28th December 2015 - 3 Things that worked

To be honest, the last Raw of the year was pretty underwhelming. Firstly, the League of nations aren't so over as a heel act and they were only relevant when Sheamus was Champion, but they were all over the main event this week.In spie of that, there were certain moments that were very well done and made Raw more bearable and for long term storyline purposes, there were steps taken that mattered for the most on this episode of Raw.The writing for the female wrestlers on the main roster is finally showing some improvement and then there was the spectacular presence of Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Here are the 3 things that worked-

#3 Dat Mugshot!

Despite the very lacklustre opening segment what was fun was Vince McMahon getting arrested. He was brutal in his promo towards Reigns and his family before being punched to the ground.

He kept saying, “My neck”, in a hilarious tone, way too many times.

But the glorious of the sum total of his appearance this week on Raw was that seething mugshot. This was an image so unforgettable that it has to be shared. Vince McMahon is one of most relevant WWE characters ever – even till this very date.

#2 Lynch Vs Banks

A story told well

This wasn’t just a match to be a match. This match wasn’t just booked to be a good one on this night. This told a far better story than what was expected of the main roster divas division and that’s a big step forward.

Lynch has been built into a really convincing babyface. This week she got some mic time and so did Sasha Banks. Lynch got to prove why she’s more than just Charlotte’s loyal friend. The announcers spoke more about her career and despite being overpowered by 3 other female performers, she held her ground and fought them all on her own.

Despite the ‘boring’ chants from that Brooklyn crowd, this was a very well booked match.

Business just picked up

Cena came back to the audience delightfully singing to his tune about how much he sucks and he seemed to enjoy every minute of it.

He knew they were, despite how polarized he is, happy that he’s back and that they respected his presence. We were relieved that he’s back and were anticipating that the best thing in pro wrestling this year – the US Title Open Challenge – will be brought back by this former champ.

And even though his promo was quite typical, the audience was quite pumped up for his return.

Welcome back, indeed!
