Naomi Osaka Talks Pregnancy and Plans for "Unique" Baby Name

Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka recently opened up about her pregnancy experience with her boyfriend Cordae and shared her plans for a "unique" baby name.

Speaking to People magazine, Osaka revealed that she and Cordae have been discussing what to name their baby. The couple wants a name that is "more unique than traditional."

"We have been discussing names. I would say that we are going for something more unique than traditional," Naomi Osaka said.

Osaka went on to praise the support of other women in her life who have provided recommendations and tips for her journey into motherhood. In addition to preparing for the arrival of her baby, the Japanese has also teamed up with Modern Health to create a collection of children's meditations aimed at promoting mental health and wellness for kids.

The meditations have been designed specifically to help kids learn about mental health and wellness, and Osaka hopes children get the opportunity to learn how to manage their emotions and feelings at an early age.

"I hope that kids are able to learn how to manage their feelings and emotions at an early age so that they can continue to use these tools later in life," Osaka added.

As a new parent, Osaka declared that she wants to be the best version of herself and hopes to be someone that her child can be proud of.

On the tennis side of things, former World No. 1 and two-time Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka has announced her plans to return to the tournament in 2024. The Japanese tennis star withdrew from the 2023 event due to her pregnancy and hasn't played in any women's tour events since her second-round exit at the 2022 Tokyo Open.

Despite her extended break from competition, Osaka, who has fallen out of the top 300 in the WTA rankings, expressed confidence about her return, stating that she plans to come back with a positive mindset at the Melbourne Major next year.

"I'm definitely going to perform well and be a better player than I have been last year. For me, my results just made me want to try harder and be the best that I can be. I’ll be competing in Australia next year," Naomi Osaka said. "The baby is due in June or July, so I have August, September, October, November and December. I have almost six months [to prepare]."
