SEVENTEEN released a new episode on Going Seventeen on May 15, 2024, wherein fans were thrilled to see the group mention BLACKPINK. The latest episode, titled EP.99 Going Ranger #1, ushered in a new season for the beloved variety show of the popular K-pop band. It featured a "Try Not To Laugh" challenge to determine which Rangers team would prevail.

SEVENTEEN, who are known for wit and comic-timing, alongside musical prowess, took the opportunity to mention BLACKPINK. Hoshi identified himself as the Black Ranger and Mingyu as the Pink Ranger based on their jackets. Their target was group member DK and to crack his composure, the duo imitated BLACKPINK's song.

Netizens were enamored by the boy band's gestures and flooded social media with compliments. Fans highlighted how they have enjoyed these tidbits of SEVENTEEN and BLACKPINK interactions over the years, and lauded the boys for constantly showing their support for the K-pop girl group. They also underscored several fanmade video clips from the past where DK performed on Pink Venom in an episode of The Game Caterer in May 2023 and more.

The theme of the "Try Not To Laugh" segment was that they had to make the opposite team laugh to win points. As part of the "Rangers" edition, the members were categorized in the colors red, yellow, blue, pink, black, and white. Mingyu and Joshua delighted the audience with choreographies of unknown provenance.

Netizens believe SEVENTEEN is BLACKPINK's biggest fans

The Going Seventeen EP.99 Going Ranger #1 opened with a VCR clip from the "2023 SVT 7TH FAN MEETING." In that, two teams were vying to be the only "Going Rangers", with Woozi standing in the center. In the VCR clip, S.Coups, Joshua, Wonwoo, The8, DK, Dino, and Jeonghan were in one team. Meanwhile, Jun, Hoshi, Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Vernon, made the second team.

The 12 members were grouped in teams of six. Each pair was given a color code (jacket), where they had to place their matching "Ranger" emblem on a box. The emblems could be stolen and removed by other teams.

Once all six emblems are placed on the box, Woozi (Doctor Woo) would place the final gemstone on the box to complete the game. Once done, the final "Going Rangers" teams would be made with six members in each team.

Meanwhile, the "Try Not To Laugh" segment was suggested by the SEVENTEEN members to add more fun to the show and the entire episode took an unexpected turn. The "Try Not To Laugh" challenge demonstrated SEVENTEEN's distinct enthusiasm as some members chased the other squad while others played games in peace or tried to make each other laugh by doing funny dance numbers.

Meanwhile, Hoshi hilariously attempted DDU-DU DDU-DU as a tactic to make the opponent squad laugh. When that didn't work, DK attacked Hoshi's team with his hilarious rendition of Pink Venom's choreography and started screaming "LA TA TA TAA", which sent every member into fits of laughter. Later in the video, all three of the idols attempted the BLACKPINK method for additional guffaws to win points.

Additionally, Hoshi humorously impersonated the members' parents which further added chaos as others lost their composure for a full-on comedy impact. While attempting to maintain composure and make people laugh, the teams competed in a range of activities, such as rock, paper, scissors, dibidibidip, skit wars, and the zero game.

As the show came to a close, Jeonghan assembled the participants to plot, piquing interest as to what would come next. Fans cheered as they flooded social media with snippets from the latest episodes and rejoiced over the group's constant love for BLACKPINK's songs.
