Nick Lee, the 2024 Pan American Wrestling Championships gold medalist, is set to join Penn State wrestling's coaching staff as an assistant coach. Cael Sanderson, the current head coach of Penn State wrestling, recently announced Lee's inclusion in the coaching roster.

Lee will take up the assistant coach position at Penn State wrestling after Jimmy Kennedy (the former assistant coach) vacated his position to join David Taylor at Oklahoma. Lee might turn out to be a suitable replacement, given his immense experience and knowledge of the collegiate wrestling circuit.

Nick Lee was a Penn State graduate himself and brought numerous laurels for the university, including two NCAA Division I gold medals (in 2021 and 2022). Lee also has experience training at the Penn State regional training center, the Nittany Lions Wrestling Club, so he would be quite familiar with the culture in and around Penn State.

Penn State wrestling head coach Cael Sanderson also shares a warm relationship with Lee. He applauded him for his habit of helping others in the training center and also stated that the 26-year-old has an immaculate talent for coaching. In a recent episode of "Strong and Grateful" podcast with Jeff Byers, Sanderson stated:

"He has a knack for coaching. He's really smart. He's taken a vested interest in helping the people around him get better. Even at times when he's supposed to be training, he's helping others. "

He further added:

"I think he's going to do an outstanding job. He gives us a younger mind who's going to see things a little differently and add a lot to what we're doing as a staff."

With Lee's inclusion, Penn State Wrestling Club's coaching staff will consist of four abled and experienced professionals- Cael Sanderson, Casey Cunningham, Cody Sanderson, and Nick Lee.

Nick Lee has been one of the most high-performing athletes in the American wrestling circuit. The Indiana native has tasted substantial success in his collegiate career with two NCAA Division I gold medals and five medals at the Big Ten Championships.

However, Lee's most cherishable moment of his career came in Acapulco when he clinched the gold medal at the Pan American Championships 2024 from the 65kg category. The 26-year-old maintained sheer dominance throughout the tournament as he registered two 10-0 wins.

His first perfect victory came against Ecuador's Joshua Kramer while his second came against Canada's Jacob Torres. Lee's final opponent in the championship pulled out due to an injury which solidified the Indiana native's place on top of the podium.
