What happened in RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 9 premiere?

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 9 premiere, which aired over two episodes, featured eight former Drag Race queens competing for a chance to win $200,000 for a charity of their choice.

This season, there would be no elimination, instead, the queens must earn Beautiful Benefactress Badges each week. The three queens with the most badges will go up against each other in the final week.

In episode one of All Stars season 9, contestants took part in the first mini challenge, which was "Reading Is Fundamental," which saw the queens roasting one another. This was followed by a maxi challenge in which the RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 9 contestants had to write and perform a verse for Drag Queens Save the World. They also had to choreograph a dance routine for it and perform it on the main stage.

The category for the runway looks was Signature Looks, Signature Fragrance, in which the contestants had to create a fragrant product and connect it to their looks and personal brand. Plastique Tiara served Fantastique by Plastique as she wanted to embrace "anyone living in a fantasy world."

In the following episode, the RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 9 contestants had to come up with three looks under the category of The Paint Ball. The categories were Monochromatica, Drag Imitates Art, and the Paint Ball Eleganza. Plastique incorporated Asian "finesse" in all three ensembles. When it was time to walk the runway, Vanjie and Gottmik believed Plastique could win the challenge.

For her first look, the All Stars star wore a red gown representing the Vietnamese flag; her second look was a polka-dot gown inspired by Kusama. Her final look of the night was a slim gown painted like a nude body with a pink train. The judges called her looks "stunning" and "magnificent," and Ross told the contestant that her last look should be displayed in a museum.

The top two performers were Gottmick and Plasique Tiara, and they lipsynced to Jump in the Line. While the latter lost the battle, she earned a Benefactress badge.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 9 will return next week with a brand new episode on Paramount+.
