10 Last-Minute predictions for WWE Money In The Bank 2018

th
Asuka and Seth Rollins will both be involved in title matches at Money In The Bank

A total of 10 matches will take place when the 2018 Money In The Bank pay-per-view emanates from Chicago, Illinois on 17 June.

Only Sportskeeda gives you the latest Wrestling News, rumors and updates.

The highlight of the show will be the men and women’s MITB ladder matches, each comprising eight Superstars from across the Raw and SmackDown Live brands, but there are plenty of other matches to look forward to, including Nia Jax vs. Ronda Rousey (Raw Women’s Championship) and AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE Championship).

Seth Rollins vs. Elias (Intercontinental Championship), Carmella vs. Asuka (SmackDown Women’s Championship) and The Bludgeon Brothers vs. The Club (SmackDown Tag Team Championships) are also scheduled for the event.

Elsewhere on the card, Roman Reigns will face Jinder Mahal and Bobby Lashley will take on Sami Zayn in Raw non-title matches, and the other non-title match on the show will see SmackDown Superstars Daniel Bryan and Big Cass do battle for the second PPV in a row.

In this article, let’s put our necks on the line and predict who will walk out of Chicago as the winners and losers.

#10 The Bludgeon Brothers vs. The Club (SmackDown Tag Team Championships)

Ha
Rowan and Harper won the SmackDown Tag Team titles from The Usos

WWE has already announced that the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match between champions The Bludgeon Brothers and challengers The Club will take place on the Money In The Bank kickoff show, which is hardly surprising given the limited amount of television time this build-up has had.

Rowan and Harper only recently won the titles at WrestleMania 34 and, unlike The New Day and The Usos, they’re yet to truly stamp their mark on the blue brand’s tag division as champions.

For that reason alone, let’s assume WWE will keep the titles on the destructive duo for a while longer (and at least until they’ve had a title rivalry with SAnitY).

Prediction: The Bludgeon Brothers

Roman Reigns failed in two recent attempts to win the Universal Championship

When Roman Reigns lost successive PPV matches against Brock Lesnar in April, it looked as though his chase of the Universal Championship might have come to an end.

However, reports continue to state that WWE could be looking to book Reigns vs. Lesnar again for the title at SummerSlam, which suggests that this rivalry with Jinder Mahal is merely a stop-gap for “The Big Dog” before he moves on to bigger and better things in a few weeks.

In front of what is bound to be a raucous Chicago crowd, expect plenty of boos for a victorious Reigns on Sunday.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

#8 Bobby Lashley vs. Sami Zayn

Bo
Bobby Lashley's return to WWE has been interesting, to say the least!

When 2018 is over, there’s a high chance that Bobby Lashley vs. Sami Zayn will go down as Worst Rivalry of the Year – unless they can produce something special at Money In The Bank to make everyone forget about the horrible build-up to this match.

The story seems to be pointing towards a Lashley win, with Zayn getting the better of his rival following Monday’s obstacle course, so let’s predict a clean victory for the former ECW champion.

Prediction: Bobby Lashley

Big Cass continues to target Daniel Bryan

It’s a little surprising that WWE has decided to stretch Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass out to two PPV matches, especially when you consider how comfortable D-Bry’s victory over the 7-footer was at Backlash last month.

Plenty of people are predicting another win on Sunday for “The Leader of the Yes Movement”, but wouldn’t it significantly damage Cass’ status as one of SmackDown Live’s top heels if he lost for the second PPV in a row against the same guy?

While a Bryan victory is probably the most likely outcome, let’s be bold and go for Cass.

Prediction: Big Cass

#6 Seth Rollins vs. Elias (Intercontinental Championship)

Se
Seth Rollins is the most popular Intercontinental champion in a very long time

There’s only one winner here, isn’t there? Seth Rollins has been the fighting champion that Raw deserves ever since he won the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 34, and Elias just isn’t ready to be the main titleholder (when Brock Lesnar is away) on WWE’s flagship show at this stage of his career.

Unless Jason Jordan returns and costs his former tag partner, “The Kingslayer” will surely leave Chicago with the IC title around his waist.

Prediction: Seth Rollins

#5 Carmella vs. Asuka (SmackDown Women’s Championship)

Asuka is yet to hold a title on the main roster

The WWE rumour mill has been running wild this week with speculation that James Ellsworth could return this Sunday to get involved at the Money In The Bank PPV in some capacity.

Assuming he interferes in this match, involving his former ally Carmella, rather than the eight-woman Money In The Bank ladder match, then one imagines he will try to help Asuka win the SmackDown Women’s title from “The Princess of Staten Island”.

After all, Carmella joined the rest of the SmackDown women’s division in effectively kicking Ellsworth off the roster just before he was released by WWE in November 2017, so maybe he will return to get some revenge against the woman he helped at last year’s MITB.

Prediction: Asuka

This will be Natalya's third Money In The Bank ladder match

Out of the eight participants (Alexa Bliss, Ember Moon, Sasha Banks, Natalya, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi and Lana), there are only four who feel like serious contenders to claim the Money In The Bank briefcase: Alexa, Sasha, Natalya and Becky.

Alexa could win because her heel persona is ready-made for a run as the MITB holder; Sasha could win because she hasn’t had a serious title storyline for almost a year; Natalya could win and potentially feud with Ronda Rousey; and Becky could win because, well, she never gets to win.

We can only choose one, though, so let’s go for Natalya. The multiple hints at a possible rivalry with Ronda are too strong to ignore!

Prediction: Natalya

Ronda Rousey will compete in her first WWE singles match

There has been speculation this week that Nia Jax vs. Ronda Rousey could go on last at Money In The Bank, which suggests that something special could happen in the match – or, more likely, after the match.

Much of the build-up to this Raw Women’s Championship match has surrounded Natalya, Ronda’s training partner and our pick to win the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match.

If our previous prediction is correct and “The Queen of Harts” wins the MITB briefcase earlier in the show, we reckon there’s every chance that Ronda defeats Nia for the title but then quickly loses when Nattie, spurred on by Stephanie McMahon, turns heel and cashes in her contract on her friend.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey (Natalya cashes in)

#2 AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE Championship)

AJ Styles defeated Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania 34

Shinsuke Nakamura has challenged for the WWE Championship in five singles matches over the last nine months (vs. Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam and Hell In A Cell, and vs. AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34, the Greatest Royal Rumble and Backlash) but he has failed to win on every occasion.

For that reason, and also because it was his choice to make the Money In The Bank encounter a Last Man Standing match, we think it’s about time “The King of Strong Style” finally gets the job done when it matters most.

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura

#1 Men’s Money In The Bank ladder match

Braun Strowman is one of eight participants in the match

Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and Bobby Roode will take part in this match from the Raw roster, while The Miz, Samoa Joe, Rusev and a member of The New Day will represent SmackDown Live.

Realistically, it doesn’t look like Roode, Rusev or a New Day member will be victorious, and it would be a surprise to see a babyface like Strowman or Balor claim the briefcase when, traditionally, the match is usually won by a heel.

With a choice between Owens, Miz and Joe, we’re going to go with Miz, simply because he has a WWE Championship-worthy storyline with Daniel Bryan ahead of him over the next few months and it would be typical of “The A-Lister” to reclaim his former title by cashing in a MITB contract.

Prediction: The Miz
