10 NXT Superstars who will be called up to the main roster in 2018

Which NXT Superstars will appear on the main roster next year?
Which NXT Superstars will appear on the main roster next year?

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the WWE is when certain NXT Superstars are called up to the main roster. In 2017, we saw Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, Elias and several members of Absolution and the Riott Squad.

With 2018 around the corner, and several Superstars down in NXT getting close to outgrowing the yellow brand, it seems that next year could be a fantastic year for new additions to the main roster. Here's the list of 10 NXT Superstars who will be called up to the main roster in 2018.

#10 The Iconic Duo

Peyton Royce and Billie Kay would bring something new to the women's division on the main roster
Peyton Royce and Billie Kay would bring something new to the women's division on the main roster

A whole host of women have just been called up to the main roster from NXT, but many scratched their heads over the fact that popular heel duo Peyton Royce, Tye Dillinger's rumoured girlfriend, and Billie Kay found themselves still in the yellow brand.

However, I believe it's only a matter of time before the two women with the unwavering friendship find themselves terrorising the women of the main roster, as they've been putting in the hours in NXT for long enough.

#9 SaNItY

Eric Young should bring his group to the main roster
Eric Young should bring his group to the main roster

Now that the Wyatt Family are well and truly disbanded, the main roster doesn't really have a sinister heel stable, with the face teams of The New Day and The Shield making up the only large factions that there are, that's where SaNItY come in.

The group have been on NXT for a while, even claiming the NXT Tag Team Titles in the process. As such there's not a whole lot else for SaNItY to do, especially with The Undisputed ERA taking over as the top heel stable on the show.

Killian Dain has also been impressive of late with a standout performance in the WarGames match, and his presence on the main roster would add another impressive big man to fill the gap left by Kane and Big Show's inevitable retirements from the company.

#8 No Way Jose

Could the WWE surprise us and call up No Way Jose?
Could the WWE surprise us and call up No Way Jose?

Each round of NXT call-ups usually has a surprise that not a lot of people would have expected, I believe No Way Jose will be that surprise call-up next year, especially as hasn't featured on NXT television for a few months now.

This could be the WWE taking him out of the public eye so that his call-up will be more of a surprise and garner more of a pop with the WWE Universe.

I'm not entirely sure where No Way Jose will fit in, but I didn't know where Elias or Tye Dillinger would fit in and they're doing alright. Jose could even flourish like Elias has on RAW, we'll have to wait and see.

#7 The Author's of Pain

I'd love to see The Author's of Pain on the main roster
I'd love to see The Author's of Pain on the main roster

The Author's of Pain have been one of the most dominant tag-teams in recent memory, in NXT and the main roster but the team is definitely starting to outgrow NXT and is in need of new challenges and new opponents.

Together with Paul Ellering, they can bring some much-needed character to a RAW tag-team division that's currently devoid of larger than life tag-teams with The BAR and the Shield making up the bulk of it.

Plus they're big and powerful and that'll be enough to make them standout on either RAW or SmackDown LIVE.

#6 Pete Dunne

The 'Bruiserweight' should be on the main roster
The 'Bruiserweight' should be on the main roster

Pete Dunne has cemented himself as a supremely gifted wrestler with his three match of the year candidates against Tyler Bate and is currently looking unstoppable as the United Kingdom Champion. Just imagining the matches he'd put on with some of the main roster would be enough to want him to be called up.

Dunne has already appeared on the main roster when he confronted and beat Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore on the taping of Monday Night RAW in Manchester, England, but that was more of a one-off deal.

I think that Dunne's main roster call-up will depend entirely on how much progress is made in the UK show that the WWE has planned. That being said, Pete Dunne is young and if I were the WWE I'd be getting him on the main roster as soon as possible.

#5 Kassius Ohno

Kassius Ohno could reunite with Cesaro on the main roster
Kassius Ohno could reunite with Cesaro on the main roster

Kassius Ohno is one of the more experienced wrestlers on NXT, having competed on the indy circuit as The Kings of Wrestling tag-team alongside Cesaro. I'm aware that Ohno seems to be there as an able hand to work with the newer, less experience talent but I don't think the WWE should pass up the opportunity to reunite Ohno and Cesaro on their show.

Admittedly, Ohno hasn't amounted to too much during both of his stints on NXT, but there's no denying that he is a superb wrestler and shouldn't be left accomplishing anything on the yellow brand for too long, like Hideo Itami was.

#4 Tomasso Ciampa

Tomasso Ciampa has Johnny Gargano to get through, but the main roster can't be far away
Tomasso Ciampa has Johnny Gargano to get through, but the main roster can't be far away

Sure, Tomasso Ciampa is currently out injured, and sure, he and Johnny Gargano still need to complete their feud on NXT that started when Ciampa turned on Gargano just before his injury.

But, once the pair have finished their blood feud there's not a whole lot for either of them to do on the NXT roster. It might be controversial but 205 LIVE would benefit greatly from having a heel of the calibre of Ciampa in its ranks, once he's done with Gargano, the WWE could do a lot worse than making Ciampa a Cruiserweight.

#3 Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano could be the next 'Daniel Bryan' in the WWE
Johnny Gargano could be the next 'Daniel Bryan' in the WWE

This brings me to Johnny Gargano. Gargano is without a doubt the best underdog babyface that the WWE has right now and he seems on the verge of reaching the top of NXT after earning himself a shot at Andrade "Cien" Almas' NXT Title.

However, it seems all but set that Ciampa will feature to prevent Gargano from completing his rise to the top and cause him to fall short once again, cementing Ciampa as a top heel in the company and catapulting Gargano to 'Daniel Bryan' levels of popularity.

If this happens, the WWE would be fools not to capitalise on that as soon as possible and push Gargano to the moon on the main roster.

#2 Ember Moon

Surely the current NXT Women's champion will move up when she drops the belt
Surely the current NXT Women's champion will move up when she drops the belt

Ember Moon very much seems like the 'old' generation of women on the NXT roster with Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler debuting recently, as well as other Mae Young Classic competitors coming thick and fast.

She may be the current NXT Women's champion but I fully expect Ember Moon to follow Billie Kay and Peyton Royce and move on to the main roster when she finally loses the belt, passing the torch to the next wave.

#1 Drew McIntyre

Will 'The Chosen One' finally make it back to the main roster after leaving the WWE
Will 'The Chosen One' finally make it back to the main roster after leaving the WWE

Until his injury was announced, many assumed that Drew McIntyre would be moving up the main roster when he dropped the NXT Title to Andrade "Cien" Almas at NXT TakeOver: WarGames given the fact that he seemed ready.

However, any main roster call-up plans have been delayed due to his injury and the Scottish Superstar now has unfinished business with Adam Cole and Almas that he'll likely need to tie up first. But once all of that is out of the way, McIntyre seems set to return to the main roster.
