10 WWE Superstars who Vince McMahon may never release

April 15th, 2020 will undoubtedly go down as one of the dark days in WWE history. With over 20 Superstars across all three brands being released, what many failed to realize was the plethora of layoffs that happened backstage to the non-talents.

It's an unfortunate situation and whether you believe that the layoffs were justified or not, there must have been several factors gone into the decision. All we can do is hope that the layoffs are only temporary as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and aren't long-term.

We were admittedly surprised at the number of Superstars laid off and the reality is that certain Superstars are close to untouchable (unless external circumstances prove otherwise).

These 10 Superstars possibly belong in that category and we believe that they may never be released from WWE.

#10. Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss is a Superstar who's far exceeded the initial expectations that were set for her. She was a late pick in the WWE Draft in 2016 and at the time, most fans still believed that Superstars who were successful in NXT would be virtually guaranteed success on the so-called "main roster".

Bliss was a part of a small SmackDown Women's roster in 2016 and it only took her over four months to capture her first title in WWE, winning the SmackDown Women's Championship from Becky Lynch after sending the latter through a table at TLC.

She's been an important part of both RAW and SmackDown since, being the first woman to win both the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championship. After winning them multiple times, she would find tag team title success in 2019 and 2020 as well. She's one of the biggest stars on the roster and could be safe from ever being released.

#9. Titus O'Neil

Titus O'Neil might have the highest chance on this list, but sometimes, being an in-ring performer isn't the only aspect of WWE. What many don't realize is that being a WWE Superstar means having a global reach and an audience of millions, which comes with a big responsibility.

John Cena has perhaps been the most praised Superstar over the last decade-and-a-half for the charitable work he's done, especially with the Make-A-Wish foundation (where he holds the record for most wishes granted). He had a heavy responsibility of carrying the company on his shoulders, which also meant appearances with the media. His ability to excel at that had led to him being the face of WWE for over a decade.

Titus O'Neil may not get as much recognition, but his philanthropic work has made him a valuable asset for WWE. He's a great brand ambassador to have and while he may not get pushed or featured heavily on television, his role is one that still holds importance in the long run.

We don't hope to see more release announcements, but Titus O'Neil could be safe.

#8. Brock Lesnar

While this one might seem like an obvious entry, it's important to take into note where WWE cuts costs. It's rumored that the releases throughout the staff saved WWE around $4 million, which is still lesser than Brock Lesnar's total salary.

He's among the highest-paid Superstars in WWE and over the years, he's received a lot of criticism for his part-time role and constantly occupying the top spot. These weren't decisions made by Lesnar and the reality is that he possibly has the best deal in all of WWE.

While employees, including top executives, have supposedly taken a pay cut, we'd be interested to know if WWE requested the same from a Superstar of Brock Lesnar's caliber. We don't expect him to take a big pay cut.

WWE wouldn't be paying him as much as they do if they didn't feel as though they were getting a return. For that, along with his name value, he's one big name who may never have to worry about being released by WWE. If anything, WWE worries when he begins any negotiation with the UFC.

#7. Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan has a lot of backstage power

Daniel Bryan has been with the WWE for around a decade now, before which he had already reached a veteran status and won World Championships. He spent the last decade cementing himself as one of the best wrestlers in the world and there will be a day where he's going to be considered among the all-time greats.

Since his return from retirement in 2018, he's set aside any worry about him having ring rust, going on to win the WWE Championship just seven months after WrestleMania 34. He even had a great run as a heel that was heavily responsible for Kofi Kingston's rise to the top in 2019, or as it was called - KofiMania.

One of the interesting things to note is that it's no secret that Bryan has more backstage power than almost all of the WWE roster. He reportedly has creative control as well, which is why he pushed for Kofi Kingston backstage in 2019 and also why he began to align with Drew Gulak a little less than a year later. He offers far too much to be ever be released.

#6. AJ Styles

The face that ran the place

AJ Styles was never expected to reach the levels that he did in WWE. When he was signed in 2016, The Phenomenal One himself admitted that he only expected to be a midcard Superstar, intending to make good money before retiring in a few years.

However, when talent is that good, it's impossible to deny them. Vince McMahon only realized months after signing AJ Styles that he ended up acquiring the best in-ring performer of this generation.

It took Styles just over two months to get into the World Championship picture and PPV main events and while he wasn't successful in his first couple of attempts against Roman Reigns, he ended up capturing it from Dean Ambrose just over seven months from his WWE debut.

That was the first of two Championship reigns - the second of which lasted a full calendar year - putting him in an elite crowd such as Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Pedro Morales, etc.

While it's not known how many more years Styles has left in him, he's undoubtedly closer to retirement than most of the WWE roster. He may never get released as WWE knows that they have to utilize him as much as they can while they have him.

#5. Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt is one of the most interesting WWE Superstars to look at, particularly when you analyze how his career has gone so far. From having a debut with The Nexus as Husky Harris and being written off in no time, he re-invented himself and as of this writing, is a two-time World Champion.

He's far from the best in-ring performer in WWE, but he's also the perfect example of why a strong character is far more important than in-ring ability. He first captivated fans as The Eater Of Worlds where he was the leader of The Wyatt Family alongside Luke Harper (Brodie Lee), (Erick) Rowan, and Braun Strowman later on.

While WWE had dropped the ball with Wyatt on numerous occasions as The Eater Of Worlds, he still has a WWE Championship reign to account for during that time.

However, his reinvention in 2019 and return as 'The Fiend' took the WWE Universe by storm, leading him to winning his second World Championship in late October 2019.

Moreover, he's a third-generation Superstar. The chances of him getting released at any point are slim.

#4. Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch may have been included in this just over two years ago. Before the summer of 2018, she was in creative limbo for a long time and was by far the most underutilized female Superstar on the roster.

Her fall was a bit surprising, as she was established as the female face of the SmackDown Women's division in the summer of 2016. However, it took her two years to regain momentum and once she took the ball, she ran away with it and has never dropped it since.

A series of circumstances, including a legitimate concussion, led her to be one of the three female Superstars to participate in the first Women's main event of WrestleMania in 2019.

With her coronation after beating Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35, she cemented herself as the face of WWE's Women's division. She would go on to hold the RAW Women's Championship for over a year.

She's also proven to be a big draw and is currently one of WWE's biggest names across the roster. It's safe to assume that she's too valuable to be released.

#3. Seth Rollins

The Monday Night Messiah
The Monday Night Messiah

Seth Rollins has been one of the three most heavily-pushed Superstars in the last five years. While three of his four World Championship reigns were short, he's always been an important figure in WWE. And from his debut in late 2012 until late 2015, he had never missed an episode of RAW. It was a streak that was close to three years and it took a devastating injury for that to end.

His babyface run lasted over three years as well, where he established himself as the face of Monday Night RAW. When looking at the current era, no Superstar is going to define WWE's flagship show more than The Architect.

He is to RAW what AJ Styles was to SmackDown between 2016 and 2019. Given his status in the company - one that only grows in importance, the chances of Rollins ever getting released seem close to none.

Moreover, he's always a reliable top star to put the World Championship on, which is exactly what WWE needs.

#2. Charlotte Flair

The 2-time NXT Women's Champion Charlotte Flair
The two-time NXT Women's Champion Charlotte Flair

This one is far more obvious than most, but it still stands. Charlotte Flair is arguably the most pushed female Superstar in WWE history - having already surpassed Trish Stratus for the number of reigns as Women's Champion.

She's won the RAW and SmackDown Women's titles on multiple occasions - being the most decorated woman in WWE history. Many would argue that the success she had was something she was always destined for, but the reality is that she had to work hard to get out of her father's shadow.

She's excelled and is considered one of WWE's best athletes today. There's no surprise that WWE made her the face of the Women's division for many years - with only Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey overtaking her at one point.

Her career is going to continue to be filled with accolades and while Superstars like Becky Lynch may have long, meaningful reigns, Charlotte Flair will likely be the one who history favors. She's unlikely to ever be released by WWE.

#1. Roman Reigns

What does Roman Reigns' future hold?
What does Roman Reigns' future hold?

Roman Reigns remains the most pushed full-time Superstar in the last five years - and perhaps even of the last decade. We all know the story of WWE's desperate attempt to have Reigns replace John Cena, only for that to backfire.

While they've relaxed on those attempts since his return in 2019, the truth is that there's no telling when Roman Reigns may have wrestled his last match. He has openly stated before that he sees his WWE career lasting between two to five years more, after which he can attempt the transition to Hollywood.

Roman Reigns is one of the biggest Superstars in WWE today and even if he gets booed by an arena of fans, there are still millions watching across the world. To many who started watching WWE post-2015, Roman Reigns is the biggest star there is and WWE knows exactly how important he is to the product.

While it's safe to assume that he'll never be released, we can only imagine what he situation must be like for WWE when he's on a hiatus - not knowing when he could possibly come back. Either way, we wish Roman Reigns nothing but the best health.
