WWE Superstars have one of the toughest jobs in the world. They need to be on the road for a significant part of the year and are away from their families for extended periods of time.
Being on the road for such a long time tends to give birth to new friendships and relationships. WWE's storied history has seen a long string of relationships being formed simply because the two people in question were traveling together or were paired together on TV. On a few rare occasions, relationships were formed due to the power of social media and direct messaging. In the following list, we will take a look at two WWE couples that met through Twitter, and three that were formed backstage.

#5 Rusev and Lana (formed backstage in WWE)
While Rusev was working in WWE NXT, he was paired with Lana. In storyline, Rusev made her his "social ambassador". The duo made its main roster debut in early 2014, with Rusev running roughshod over several lower-card Superstars in a span of weeks. In real life, Rusev and Lana were getting closer and closer with each passing day. On July 29, 2016, the couple finally got hitched, and have been married ever since.

Rusev and Lana were involved in a couple of romantic angles during their WWE stint. The first one saw Rusev aligning with Summer Rae, and Lana showing interest in Dolph Ziggler. The second angle took place last year and continued over to 2020. The storyline saw Lana and Bobby Lashley getting together and feuding with Rusev. The Bulgarian Brute was released by WWE in April, after being on the shelf for weeks on end. He currently wrestles in AEW under the moniker of Miro.
#4 Zack Ryder and Chelsea Green (met through Twitter)
Zack Ryder isn't with WWE anymore, but there was a brief period of time when both he and Chelsea Green were with the company at the same time. The latest trend on social media saw people sharing pictures from years ago, and coupling them with their latest photos, with a caption stating, "How it started vs How it's going". Chelsea Green joined the bandwagon and revealed Zack Ryder's first message to her on Twitter. Ryder sent the message after he was told about Green by Cody and Brandi Rhodes.
"You're single. Why don't you guys...I'm like...I don't want to date a wrestler. Been there, done that, doesn't work out. No way. And then they said, 'she likes Disney.' Oh, she likes Disney...ok. So, I did the typical slide into the DMs and I think the first thing was, you like Disney. We went on a date, like two weeks later. She tried avoiding me but I finally got through."

In the screenshot, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion can be seen giving her his number and then realizing that he gave Green the wrong digits. Ryder quickly gave her his correct number, and the rest is history. Ryder and Green were engaged in April, last year. Chelsea Green is currently signed with WWE NXT, while Zack Ryder was released back in April.
#3 Edge and Lita (formed backstage in WWE)
Edge-Lita is quite possibly the most controversial couple in WWE history. This relationship formed while the duo was working together, and Lita was still in a relationship with Matt Hardy. Back in 2004-05, Hardy was on hiatus due to an injury and was subsequently released by WWE in April 2005, after he publicly berated Edge and Lita upon discovering that the latter was cheating on him.

Lita began getting booed on a regular basis on WWE TV by the fans, who had found out on the web about what she had done in real life. In kayfabe, Lita was a babyface and WWE wasn't happy with her getting booed by the fans. WWE soon turned this real-life situation into an angle. Lita aligned with Edge after turning on Kane, and Matt Hardy soon made his return to feud with the duo. Edge and Matt Hardy traded wins at SummerSlam and Unforgiven. Edge later won a "Loser Leaves RAW Ladder Match" for the Money in the Bank briefcase, which led to Hardy going to SmackDown.
#2 Matt Hardy and Reby Sky (met through Twitter)
Former WWE Superstar Matt Hardy has gone through a lot of hardships in his life, both professionally and personally. After Lita cheated on him with his best friend Edge in 2004-05, Matt Hardy was in an incredibly dark place in his life, but he somehow managed to come out of the situation an improved and happy person. Hardy went on to meet Reby Sky, and the couple is currently happily married with three children.
Back in October, Reby Sky shared a screenshot of a tweet made by a fan, who stated that Matt Hardy and Sky would make a great couple. The tweet received a response from Hardy, who dubbed it as being sweet. Reby Sky also posted a reply later. One thing led to another, and the duo finally met. Things definitely clicked between the two, as they became a couple soon and the rest is history. Reby Sky has played a crucial role in helping Matt Hardy get clean, and get rid of his addiction issues. Hardy currently wrestles for All Elite Wrestling.

Reby Sky didn't do anything of note in WWE during Hardy's stint there. Her most notable appearance was on a WWE Table For 3 episode, where she was featured alongside Randy Orton and Kurt Angle's wives.
#1 Brock Lesnar and Sable (formed backstage in WWE)
Brock Lesnar was the biggest WWE Superstar on SmackDown, for the entirety of 2003. His meteoric rise to the top of WWE's food chain was impressive, to say the least, and fans knew that the company had found a once-in-a-lifetime talent who would take them to new heights in the coming years. Sable, who had left WWE years ago on bad terms, made her return immediately after WrestleMania 19, on WWE SmackDown. Brock Lesnar had won the WWE title at The Show of Shows, and was on top of the world at the time.

In the coming months, Sable was featured heavily in storylines with Mr. McMahon, against babyfaces like Mr. America, Stephanie McMahon, and Zach Gowen. Lesnar, on the other hand, had become a top heel on the Blue brand after he turned on Kurt Angle. Around this time and in the coming months, Lesnar and Sable got close to each other, and were a couple soon after. Lesnar left WWE in March 2004, while Sable followed him around three months later. They got married two years later and have two children together.
