There can be fewer things better in WWE, than getting to the main event of WrestleMania. The biggest event of the year, WrestleMania attracts millions of fans worldwide, so being on the show is a prize in its own right, nevermind getting to close out the event.

In the show's 35 years, only a small handful of Superstars have been trusted to close out the event, with Hulk Hogan finishing eight out of the first nine events, with Triple H taking the silver medal with 7 appearances. In today's roster, there are already signs that some Superstars will one day get to close out the showcase of the immortals, and there are some who, for whatever reason, we all know never will

Note: For this list, we are considering the final match to take place at WrestleMania as the main event.

#3 Probably Will: Samoa Joe

Joe could find himself in the main event spot at WrestleMania one day.
Joe could find himself in the main event spot at WrestleMania one day.

Samoa Joe has had a very unlikely route to WWE. Signing with TNA all those years ago, Joe's choice, as well as his physique, made many fans believe the Submission Machine would never find a spot in McMahon's promotion, which for years pushed the jacked muscle-man look as the default.

Now in WWE, Joe has constantly proven himself as an incredible performer, whether as a face or as a heel. Giving his very best work as a heel, Joe has been a true highlight on the main roster since coming up in 2017, though the Samoan Submission Machine has been the victim of some stop-start pushes during his time. If things align up though, Joe could easily find his way into the main event of WrestleMania in the near future and could work wonders with many on the roster.

#3: No Chance: Dolph Ziggler

The window of opportunity for Ziggler has long-since closed.
The window of opportunity for Ziggler has long-since closed.

There may have been a time when WWE could have considered Dolph Ziggler for the main event of WrestleMania, but if there was, it has long since passed. In recent years, Ziggler's character has been predominantly based on his shortcomings throughout his career, including his two forgettable reigns as World Heavyweight Champion.

Making his main roster debut nearly 14 years ago, the Ziggler character is now a decade old, and it seems fans have gotten tired of the cocky Superstar, who seems to be destined to remain in the mid-card or lower for the rest of his career. Short of a truly disastrous string of injuries at the top of the roster, or a push even more momentous than Kingston’s this past year, there’s no chance of The Show-Off closing out the biggest show of the year

#2 Probably will: Kevin Owens

Owens recent face turn and opposition to Shane McMahon has turned the Canadian into one of WWE's hottest talents.

Is there an act hotter in WWE today than Kevin Owens? Returning recently as the voice of the people, the Canadian has won over fans and critics alike, with many considering Owens to be this generation's Stone Cold Steve Austin.

This recent run is just the latest big win for the Prizefighter, who WWE feel comfortable taking a chance on. Look at his main roster debut, defeating John Cena, or how Owens performed in his rushed Universal title reign following Finn Balor's injury as proof. Owens is a talent that WWE has faith in to take a chance on, and when you consider how often the SmackDown Live Superstar has delivered, he has a shot of going all the way to the top at a future WrestleMania.

#2 No chance: Baron Corbin

Corbin defeated Kurt Angle in the Olympian's final match at WrestleMania 35.

In 2019, there's only a small handful of Superstars who get to main event Pay Per Views, and Baron Corbin is one of them. Headlining both Extreme Rules and Stomping Grounds, this has led to many critics of the former RAW GM fearing that he will one day headline The Show of Shows.

Many critics have even claimed Corbin has 'go away heat', meaning fans simply don't want to see him (not even getting beaten up). Given this potential backlash from fans, if the WWE picked the Constable for the main event spot at the biggest show of the year, Corbin should be satisfied in high-stakes mid-card matches at the event. Though Corbin did get a huge win this year, ending Kurt Angle's legendary career, the main event is a step too far.

#1 Probably will: Seth Rollins

Rollins dethroned Brock Lesnar in this year's opener to win the Universal title.

There's a solid argument to be made that Seth Rollins has already main-evented The Show of Shows when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania 31. But give it time and it seems it won't be long until the former Universal Champion one day headlines the event with a match he doesn't have to crash.

A fixture of the main roster for the past seven years, Rollins has always been booked well, whether as part of The Shield, The Authority, WWE World Champion, feuding with Triple H, or most recently taking on the Beast Brock Lesnar. This plan has garnered the Architect a legion of fans, and if he remains injury-free, it seems Rollins has a lengthy WWE tenure ahead of him, one that will include a Mania main event.

#1 No Chance: Kofi Kingston

Kofi won the WWE Championship at this year's WrestleMania, in one of the event's most emotional bouts.

Yes, as backwards as it seems, the current WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has sadly little to zero chance of one-day main eventing The Show of Shows. Winning the title on this year's show, Kofi's win was an emotional feat, though came in the middle of the event.

Though he may be a top star on the so-called B-Show, this doesn't exactly make the New Day star a Mania main eventer, and the best Kingston can hope for post-title loss is to be a long-term fixture in the main event of SmackDown. It’s hard to see him main eventing a WrestleMania, with newer talents of equal or greater star power closing in, not to mention the prospect of part-timers taking main event spots here and there in the years to come.
