3 reasons why Ronda Rousey must turn heel on the road to WrestleMania

For the benefit of the story, Ronda Rousey should turn heel.

Ronda Rousey is currently WWE's biggest mainstream star, more than Brock Lesnar and even John Cena. Ever since she first showed up at the end of last year's Royal Rumble, Rousey has been carrying herself like the huge star that she is.

It took time to adjust on the microphone, but she is now a solid hand in all aspects of professional wrestling. Rousey's first ever match was at WrestleMania, a mixed tag team match alongside Kurt Angle against the evil duo of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

She stole the show with an incredible performance, wowing the world through her amazing capabilities as a wrestler.

Since then, the UFC Hall of Famer has been more than a semi-regular presence on WWE programming. After a summer-long chase for the Raw Women's Championship, Rousey won the title at SummerSlam by squashing Alexa Bliss.

She would also wrestle on Raw numerous times, being integrated as a proper full-time wrestler. Rousey's reign has been a good one, defending her title in decent matches against Nikki Bella and Nia Jax among others, while her match with Sasha Banks was one of the best on a stacked Royal Rumble card.

She has been a tremendous babyface so far but the time may have come to switch her character up, especially if the rumours of her leaving after WrestleMania are indeed true. She is set to defend her Raw Women's title against Becky Lynch at the Show of Shows and she must turn full heel before she goes on hiatus.

Here are three reasons why Ronda Rousey must turn heel on the road to WrestleMania.

#3 She would be a natural at it

Rousey would make a phenomenal heel.
Rousey would make a phenomenal heel.

When Ronda Rousey first started, she seemed like a natural villain. Appearing at the end of the Royal Rumble and stealing the spotlight from the competitors in the Rumble match seemed to set that up.

But WWE had other ideas. She played her role as the top babyface perfectly, but there is a whole new side of her that is yet to be unleashed. She joined WWE from UFC. That in itself would be enough to turn her heel. Rousey would be the unstoppable badass woman who would run through all the crowd favourites, much like a female Brock Lesnar.

But that's not what happened. WWE got a fantastic run out of Rousey as a good guy, but now is the right time to unlock more fire. She is a natural in the ring and with her character, but something about Ronda Rousey as a bad guy sounds right.

Her respectful promos would turn into wild and threatening warnings for her opponents, as she bullies her way through the division and savagely attacks various wrestlers. She has that arrogant and cocky vibe about her. That should be more on display. There is still time to do it before 'Mania.

#2 Becky Lynch

The Man always comes around.
The Man always comes around.

One of the most compelling things during Rousey's one year with WWE has been her feud with Becky Lynch. Their scheduled match at Survivor Series was called off after Becky suffered a "broken face" at the hands of Nia Jax, building up further anticipation for their eventual match.

Now that the Man has won the Royal Rumble match, the match has been set for WrestleMania for the Raw Women's Championship. She is the most over wrestler on the entire WWE roster, including the ever-popular Baddest Woman on the Planet.

Becky has been getting consistently loud reactions from the WWE fans for months now and it does not look like slowing down even one bit, with her challenging for Rousey's title at WrestleMania.

The current champ would be the perfect foil for the Irish Lass Kicker's rise. A fiery program would get even more intense if Ronda Rousey is to find her inner killer and unleash it on Becky in the lead-up to their huge match. It would only make 'The Man's' victory sweeter.

The Face vs Face route is also fine, as long as they visibly hate each other, but there is one small problem with that...

#1 The crowd has already turned on her

The crowd has started to boo her already.
The crowd has started to boo her already.

Make no mistake, Ronda Rousey is insanely popular and is WWE's biggest mainstream star. However, that has not stopped the hardcore WWE fans from booing her mercilessly. It started at Survivor Series when Charlotte Flair laid a vicious beatdown on her.

And it returned in full voice on Raw, after the rumours started flying over her potential early WWE exit. Now that Becky Lynch is facing her, it is no secret who will get cheered and who will get booed. And if reactions to unpopular strong babyfaces are anything to go by, Ronda Rousey is going to be in for a rough couple of months.

She has seemed rattled from the boos in the past, so maybe it would be smart to just turn her fully heel, even if it is only for this program. WWE should just embrace the boos and set Rousey free, have her literally live up to her Baddest Woman moniker.

It would certainly keep her confidence high, heading into a crucial few months. The least it would do is make the reaction seem authentic enough, plus the story is right there.

Becky Lynch is the hero of the people, the one who will conquer the evil beast, Ronda Rousey. That story writes itself.

Please WWE, just turn Rousey heel for this one program. It will be worth it.
