WWE Super ShowDown concluded in Jeddah on Friday (it became Saturday in Saudi Arabia by the time the show ended), and just like the last PPV, this one, too, ended with a sour taste in the mouth.

The whole show was decent with almost every match being either average or slightly above it, save the last one. The pick of the show was the match between Triple H and Randy Orton, as they battled with all they had in the squared circle.

The encounter between Lars Sullivan and Lucha House Party was surprisingly good as well, with the match ending in a disqualification as all three members of the Lucha House Party attacked Sullivan, who then destroyed them while they were leaving the ring.

The surprise of the evening was the Big Dog Roman Reigns taking a defeat at the hands of Shane McMahon. Even though Drew McIntyre interfered to Claymore Kick Reigns and have McMahon then win via a pin, it was quite shocking to see WWE let Reigns lose.

However, the talk of the PPV was the main event match between Goldberg and The Undertaker. The absolute rain of botches in that match showed that these two legends should never have pitted against each other right now – and here are three reasons why the match was a wakeup call…

#3 Too slow

Both were too slow
Both were too slow

Obviously. With age, you start slowing down. Goldberg wasn’t really the best in-ring performer to begin with. His ‘kneebar’ to Undertaker looked more like a leg hug than anything else.

Meanwhile, the Undertaker too was slow to execute his move. The chokeslam to end the match was lackluster and didn’t look as great as it once did. Both of them are in their 50s and are no longer as quick as they once were, which is a dangerous thing because someone…

#2 Can get killed

This could have ended badly

There were three instances last night where both The Undertaker and Goldberg almost killed each other in the ring. It began when Goldberg ran into the ring post to spear The Undertaker.

The Phenom moved away but Goldberg’s momentum was so much that his head hit the post and was busted open. Before that instance, the match was at least watchable. After that, however, Goldberg became dizzy and it was really apparent.

Then came Undertaker’s botch as he couldn’t hold on to the weight of Goldberg while performing the Tombstone, which resulted in Goldberg’s skull crashing into the mat. The cherry on the cake was Goldberg’s botched jackhammer, as Undertaker’s neck almost snapped when Goldberg threw his body on the mat.

Last night, luck was on their side and no-one got seriously hurt. However, luck won’t always be in their favor and one of these two could seriously get hurt if they take to the ring again.

#1 Tarnishing their respective legacies

Legacy being destroyed
Legacy being destroyed

This is worst part of these two legends still trying to fight within the squared circle. With each passing day, they get slower and we get to see the vulnerable side of them in the ring, which we never saw back in their prime.

Back in the last 90s and early 2000s, Goldberg, while limited in his in-ring repertoire, had an aura about him that made the fans fall in love. Right from his entrance theme to the way he squashed opponents in the squared circle, it made him look like an unstoppable force of nature.

For Undertaker, the case was the same, as when the gong rang and The Undertaker entered the arena, you knew you were in for a ride. However, when these two come into the ring now, there is a deep sense of sadness because you know that they won’t be able to put on a good show and just ruin their respective legacies, which were so hard to build in the first place.
