3 things Conor McGregor could do at WrestleMania 35

Just a few hours ago, Conor McGregor stunned the world of combat sports by announcing his retirement from Mixed Martial Arts. This is his second 'retirement’ after he previously did so in 2016. The former featherweight champion is one of the most recognised and popular faces in all of sports today, which means that any association with WWE would be a huge deal for Vince McMahon and company.

McGregor's last fight for the UFC ended in a submission defeat to the Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, with a huge boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in the slightly more distant past. And like Mayweather did in 2008, the Irishman could make a monumental appearance at WrestleMania, even if the chances are extremely slim.

WWE always does their best to create a memorable night filled with moments and that includes a lot of celebrity appearances. They already have Saturday Night Live personalities, Colin Jost and Michael Che entering the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. So it is not out of the question for the 'Notorious One’ to show up at MetLife Stadium on April the 7th.

If it does indeed happen, here are three possible things Conor McGregor could do at WrestleMania 35.

#3. Interrupting Elias

Will Conor walk with Elias?

Elias is going to have a musical performance at WrestleMania, in what will most likely be a cool-down segment between big matches. So as everybody in the stadium is taking a breather in the background of the Drifter's biggest performance ever, the clock would be ticking on a huge interference.

There are a few likely candidates to interrupt Elias and his crowd bashing concert, with the options ranging from the Undertaker and the Rock all the way to Lacey Evans, as she walks up and down the ramp again. Nevertheless, somebody will walk with Elias.

What if it was someone who has never stepped foot in a WWE ring? It would certainly be a breathtaking moment if Conor McGregor would show up and face off with Elias. It would be a great spot for Elias, who had been floundering in the barren midcard of Raw for months. It would be a moment that would appeal to the mainstream audience at WrestleMania.

But it is highly unlikely, as WWE would rather have a part-time WWE star to show up in what would be an effective spot on the card, and rightly so. The Undertaker is much more likely to beat Elias up, especially since his involvement at the Show of Shows has been deemed likely.

#2. Accompanying Becky Lynch

Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch is set to be the first-ever women's main event in WrestleMania history. It is an incredible achievement and a testament to the brilliance shown not only by these three women, but the entire women's division in WWE.

This entire feud has been confusing as hell and could have done with a much more simplified story, but the match is still incredibly exciting. It will be a great main event, despite the fact that we will all be over seven hours deep into 'Mania madness by then.

A way that WWE could make it slightly more interesting, if the match even needs it, would be to have each competitor be accompanied to the ring. Rousey would have her husband, Travis Browne, who showed up on Raw last week, Charlotte would have Ric Flair, who played a big part in a previous 'Mania triple threat match for his daughter, and Becky would have someone who shares her Irish blood, Conor McGregor.

Like the previous one, it would be a huge deal for Conor and Becky to stand tall at the end of WrestleMania. However, it would be damaging for the first women's WrestleMania main event to feature a bunch of men as well. This is the ladies' moment and no amount of mainstream coverage would be worth diluting this big moment.

#1. Helping Finn Balor neutralise Lio Rush

Frankly, this is the only decent spot for him.
Frankly, this is the only decent spot for him.

In full honesty, this is the only feasible option that would actually enhance the show without any oversaturation or damaging anything else. Finn Balor earned an Intercontinental Championship match at WrestleMania, after defeating Bobby Lashley and Jinder Mahal in a handicap match. This comes after a few months of feuding with Lashley and his hype man, Lio Rush. Balor won the IC title from Lashley by pinning Rush at Elimination Chamber but lost it back to the Dominator a few weeks later on Raw.

The match at 'Mania will be the culmination of this feud and there are two ways to go about it. First, Balor could show up as the Demon and essentially squash Lashley to recapture the Intercontinental title. It would be a cool moment and the entrance would be unbelievable. The second way would be for Balor to enlist the help of a fellow Irishman to counter the threat for Lio Rush interfering. Conor McGregor beating up Lio Rush and helping Finn Balor win the Intercontinental Championship would be one of the most memorable moments of WrestleMania 35.

It would make sense for the former Lightweight Champion to make an impact by dishing it out to a cruiserweight, not hurting anybody in the process and giving the fans a really cool WrestleMania moment from a match that seems plain ordinary on paper. Take this as you may, but Finn Balor's tweet below is certainly a teaser for a possible appearance.

Will Conor McGregor show up at WrestleMania? And if he does, what will he do?
