3 things WWE did right on Monday Night RAW (December 10, 2018)

Things are not looking good for WWE these days when it comes to their weekly television shows.

Both Raw and SmackDown are recording record low ratings week in and week out. Both shows are getting less than positive reviews from fans, and nothing appears to be changing any time soon. Vince McMahon has a firm hold on the controls of the main roster shows, and he’s not letting go for a long time.

Oddly enough, it wouldn’t take much to change things up and make the shows better. All it will take is a few tweaks here and there and both Raw and SmackDown could be much more watchable shows. And WWE seemed to do just that tonight. RAW felt refreshing after weeks of dishing out a bad product. Let's look at 3 things that WWE did right tonight.

#3: Seth Rollins taking matters in his own hands

Last week, the RAW ratings went to a historic low, and WWE needed to bring some changes in their opening segment. Seth Rollins opening the show made me think that they realised their mistake from the past 3 weeks, and decided to put Rollins to give us a quality skit to look forward to.

Seth calling out Baron Corbin was the most compelling segment they had done in ages. With Rollins pointing out the garbage that has been Raw lately even if he was blaming Corbin rather than the guy in charge of writing the show.

Rollins pointed out the RAW ratings being at an all-time low, he also called out the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for not being there while pointing out that the last time Lesnar wrestled on RAW was in 2002 (Although he did wrestle in 2015, it was Rollins who bailed out).

Corbin took offence to Rollins blaming him for all the fiasco and made a match that will see Rollins compete against him in a TLC match for the Intercontinental Championship in the main event.

#2: New Tag Team Champions

The tag team titles weren't actually due to be on the line at TLC, but there was an impromptu match on Raw with the gold up for grabs.

On paper this had AOP winning written all over it, but Drake Maverick's cockiness and overconfidence cost them the Tag Team Championships. It wasn't really a logical choice when you look at it from a fan's perspective, since it's been only a month since the Authors of Pain won it, and this only makes the tag team division more confusing.

But from a booking perspective, it was only right to follow-up with a feel good, newsworthy moment like this when they had already told the fans that their show sucks and has drawn record-low ratings for the past few weeks.

Anyways, congratulations to Bobby Roode and Chad Gable for becoming the New RAW Tag Team Champions.

#1: Burning It Down

The most important feud for RAW now is probably Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins. It is building towards TLC to a very smooth pace.

As I have already mentioned in the first slide, the show started with Rollins roasting Corbin, which ended with TLC coming days before it's supposed to come. The match was set for the main event and there was everything at stake for The Architect.

Heath Slater was once again refereeing the match after screwing Elias out of the victory in the night's earlier match. The Lone Wolf started the match early, punishing Rollins with everything he got his hands on.

The Kingslayer kept getting beaten down until he saw an opening to fight back. The ending moments of the match were a lot of fun that saw Seth taking out Corbin with a Frog Splash on the table outside the ring, and it looked like the Architect was walking away with a victory but Heath Slater stopped it from happening by toppling the ladder while Seth was on it.

Slater helped Corbin climb the ladder but Rollins came back in one of the most crowd-pleasing moments of the past few weeks. The Architect took out the GM-elect, powerbombing him through the corner table and then taking out Heath Slater, and then hitting a Curb Stomp on Corbin to snatch the victory.

The Architect reigns for now. He will have to regroup for TLC, and in the closing moments of RAW, Ambrose appeared to remind him of their coming war. Will Ambrose cure himself of his disgust for Rollins? Or will Rollins burn it to the ground even brighter than before?
