It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2018. This year we witnessed a lot of ups and downs in WWE. Some moments were so amazing that we would never forget them, but others were pretty bad that we would like to forget about them. In 2018, many superstars joined the WWE. Women's wrestling was also taken to new heights in the company.

From the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match to the first-ever all women’s pay-per-view, 2018 was filled with great moments. However, not everything that happened was good for business. From Roman Reigns’ departure to Lesnar’s title reign, there are a few things shouldn’t have happened this year. Hopefully, the new year will be the promise of a new beginning.

WWE has another chance to improve their product and serve the best to the fans. Let’s take a look at the three things that WWE needs to avoid in 2019 and 2 that it needs to maintain.

#3 Avoid: Meaningless Storylines

Worst feud of 2018?
Worst feud of 2018?

The WWE roster is full of talented wrestlers from all around the world, and this makes it difficult for the company to build up great angles for everyone. It's true that we have seen many great storylines as well, but this doesn’t change the fact that some of them still made no sense.

Storytelling is the only thing that makes a rivalry even more interesting. Without a compelling story, the fans get bored pretty quickly. Wrestlers like Finn Balor and Bobby Lashley were also affected by bad storytelling. Not everyone enjoyed the Lashley vs Sami Zayn feud because there wasn't enough there to make it interesting. The rivalry did more harm than good to these two wrestlers.

Now, the only way to fix this is to improve the storyline creation process.

#2 Maintain: Promos

Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey

WWE really did a good job in improving the qualities of promos. Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and many more superstars left a mark with their amazing promos. Rousey’s promo skills were not initially good but overtime they improved gradually. The promo she delivered during her feud with Nikki Bella will be remembered for a long time.

We do have Superstars like Asuka and Shinsuke Nakamura who are not good on the microphone, but that’s not their fault. They belong to a country where English isn’t a trend, but it would be good if WWE gave them a manager. This will make things much more interesting.

Superstars like Samoa Joe, Dean Ambrose, and Drew McIntyre are also some examples of good mic workers. Remember when Joe got personal with AJ Styles when he mentioned Styles' family in his promo? That promo made this rivalry a lot of interesting than before.

#2 Avoid: Burying Talented Wrestlers

This year the WWE buried many talented superstars. Finn Balor is an excellent example of this. He lost many big matches and it hurt him a lot. However, over the the past few weeks, he was on the winning side, but this might not last long.

According to a rumor, the company is using him as a feeder to McIntyre. This is sad news for Balor fans. We all know how talented he is. After all, he is the first-ever Universal Champion. Not only Balor, but the company also buried superstars like Strowman, Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura.

They all deserve to be champions by now, but the company didn’t give them the brass ring that they deserve. This should be avoided next year because the fans want to see these superstars as champions.

Strowman is currently scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2019, and maybe he might become the new Universal Champion.

#1 Maintain: The rise of the women’s division

Becky Lynch

2018 was an outstanding year for the women’s division. From the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match to women headlining major pay-per-views, the company did everything they could for the women’s division. Recently, Vince McMahon announced that the Women’s tag titles will be back. This is a perfect way to start off 2019 as the fans also wanted to see the titles back for a very long time.

There were also some rumors that the females could also headline WrestleMania 35. This would be the biggest decision taken by the WWE for the women’s revolution as Mania is the WWE's biggest show.

I love how women’s wrestling has changed in the past few years. Becky Lynch is currently the biggest superstar in the women’s division, and I believe that she and Ronda together can headline next year’s Wrestlemania.

#1 Avoid: Countless rematches

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura

In my opinion, this is the biggest problem in the WWE. I know many of you believe that part-time champions are the biggest problem in the WWE. I also agree with that, but it has already been mentioned a lot of times. And this is why I’m not including it again.

We saw many rivalries this year, and this is great. But, seeing the same match again and again borse anyone. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles was a dream match for the WWE Universe. It happened at Wrestlemania 34. Not only did Nakamura turn heel but Styles retained the WWE championship.

There was no doubt that both these superstars were going to feud for a long time but, rematches made this rivalry super dull.

They fought a lot of times where Nakamura lost every match against Styles. The same happened with Samoa Joe. Both superstars got very personal, and the fans were loving this rivalry. However, the same match happened a lot of times and this ruined everything. Rematches aren’t bad but overdoing something, definitely is.
