4 Possible directions Trish Stratus could go after facing Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2019

Where will Trish go?
Where will Trish go?

Trish Stratus returned to WWE this Tuesday on SmackDown Live, appearing in the King's Court with Jerry Lawler.

She mentioned how she still has that itch to go out and have one last match, eventually prompting Charlotte Flair to come out and challenge her to a match at SummerSlam, in her hometown of Toronto.

This is a huge match, one of the bigger matches on a stacked card for the Biggest Party of the Summer. It might even have an outside chance of stealing the entire show. Trish will likely get the pop of the night, as she looks to prove that she could still go in the ring.

Her appearances at Royal Rumble and Evolution last year have proven that the seven-time Women's Champion still has a few matches in her.

An extended run for her would be a major boost to the WWE's women's division, devoid of main event star power beyond the likes of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss.

Here are four possible directions Trish Stratus could go following her marquee match with Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2019.

#4 One and done

Trish may leave immediately after SummerSlam.
Trish may leave immediately after SummerSlam.

When any returning legend speaks about "one last match" on WWE programming, it always ends up being an extended run for them. However, what if Trish Stratus was not lying on SmackDown?

There is not any indication that she will be sticking around beyond SummerSlam and her match with Charlotte Flair could be a one-and-done. Hopefully, that isn't the case and Trish carries on for a few more months.

However, it does make sense if the Toronto-native just wanted to have one final match, as this would be the perfect match for her.

SummerSlam in her hometown, against arguably the greatest female wrestler in history, would be hard to top. WWE is in need of more female stars and there are several talents who would get a great rub from beating the seven-time Women's Champion.

This is one rare instance where WWE should actually use a past legend as an active wrestler in the current product.

#3 Tag team title shot with Lita

The female tag division could do with this.
The female tag division could do with this.

Trish Stratus and Lita, while bitter rivals for most of their careers, teamed up at Evolution. They opened the show against Mickie James and Alicia Fox, picking up the victory.

Lita may not have looked as great as Trish, but having them as a tag team in WWE would be excellent. The female tag team division has been a complete afterthought for months, following the IIconics' victory at WrestleMania.

After a program with the Bella Twins was cancelled, the titles were rarely on TV and the champions lost most of their sporadic appearances on RAW and SmackDown.

Only recently has WWE put some effort into making the titles mean something, with the Kabuki Warriors gaining more and more steam. However, they will need a few more teams for the process to be effective.

Trish and Lita could face and put over Asuka and Kairi Sane, in what could be a career-making match for the Japanese duo.

#2 Feud with Alexa Bliss

The match we were going to get.
The match we were going to get.

The first match that was announced for Evolution was Alexa Bliss vs Trish Stratus, one of the more exciting matches that WWE could have booked. It eventually morphed into a tag team match, adding Lita and Mickie James to the mix.

The Goddess then got taken out of the match due to a concussion, completely deviating from the original plan all along. This week's happenings could present the chance for WWE to complete this chapter.

This was a dream match for Bliss, having looked up to Trish for a really long time, and now that she is healthy again, the company could pull the trigger on the match.

Her partnership with Nikki Cross is one of the more intriguing storylines in the entire female roster and a program with the Hall of Famer would certainly help both of them. If Trish Stratus does stick around beyond SummerSlam, WWE should consider this.

Adding Lita to the mix as well might not be a bad thing, as the potential subsequent tag team match would be better than the one we got at Evolution last year.

#1 Facing Becky Lynch for the RAW Women's Championship

A marquee match for sure.
A marquee match for sure.

Ever since her monumental main event victory at WrestleMania, Becky Lynch's momentum has been severely compromised due to an unspectacular range of opponents.

She lost the SmackDown Women's Championship to old rival Charlotte Flair, while her Raw Women's title was contested for in a three-month-long feud with Lacey Evans.

The merging of her and Seth Rollins' feuds did not help one bit either. She is currently set to defend her belt against Natalya at SummerSlam.

The program has picked up some intensity, but Nattie is not a top name that would ideally be in a championship match at one of the biggest shows of the year.

The rest of the Raw women's division does not exactly cry out star power, especially with the losses of both Sasha Banks and Ronda Rousey, and may require a dose of Stratusfaction. Trish Stratus would be an instant boost to the division, at least temporarily, while WWE attempts to improve the stock of their female talent.

She would be a worthy challenger to the Man for her Raw Women's Championship, with this match being a great main event for a prospective Evolution pay-per-view this year.
