4 reasons why The Undertaker should not have a match at WrestleMania 35

We're on the road to WrestleMania 35, which is building up to an incredible night, considering the matches that are lined up. We'll see Brock Lesnar defend his Universal title once again at WrestleMania, this time against Seth Rollins, who has had a stellar year or so, becoming the top dog of RAW.

Meanwhile, the other mouthwatering clash is the one featuring Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey (and maybe Charlotte Flair added to the mix, too) which will most likely headline and close the show, in what will be a first for women's wrestling.

The Becky Lynch story has been one of the most interesting ones in the WWE recently as The Man has transformed herself into a huge star not only in the women's division but all of WWE.

WrestleMania will see the culmination of some feuds, and perhaps even the end of certain careers.

One Superstar whose career is rumoured to end at WrestleMania 35 is The Undertaker, whose fabled journey in the WWE - and WrestleMania - could end at this year's edition of The Show of Shows.

But, should The Undertaker be a part of WWE's biggest night of the year? Here are 4 reasons why The Undertaker should not have a match at WrestleMania 35:

#1 Too slow

The Undertaker
The Undertaker

The Undertaker is no longer the wrestler that he was in the past. Age has obviously caught up with The Deadman and his matches aren't as entertaining as they were. 'Taker was - and is - an old-school wrestler who told stories in the ring, sold well, and built a match around mini stories rather than over-the-top moves or speed like modern-day Superstars.

One of the key reasons why I would not want to see a match featuring The Undertaker at WrestleMania is that the actual wrestling does not live up to the ambiance created by the arrival of The Deadman to the ring.

I would not want to be invested in a 20-25 minute story where the action and excitement die as soon as the white lights are on when both wrestlers are in the ring.

#2 No suitable opponent

The Undertaker's match against John Cena in last year's WrestleMania was rushed, had no build or storyline (except for a desperate John Cena wanting a dream match with The Deadman just weeks before the show).

For a Superstar that has made such a big impact on WWE, it was a disappointing way to tell a story at a monumental show like WrestleMania.

There is a big chance that the same could repeat itself at WrestleMania 35. 'Taker's last feud was with Shawn Michaels and Triple H at Crown Jewel, but it is unlikely that WWE will do a repeat of that feud.

There is no Superstar that The Undertaker can put over too; things could have been different if a certain Braun Strowman had won the Universal title or was at least in the Universal title reckoning.

With his stock fallen over the last 6 months, Strowman is not the right person for The Undertaker to face at WrestleMania. I don't see anyone else who would benefit from a match with The Undertaker, while there are no "dream" matches that can happen at The Show of Shows.

#3 Taking a valuable spot from a younger Superstar

Drew McIntyre

A WrestleMania match can make or kill a Superstar. A great showing at WrestleMania can increase a WWE Superstar's stock exponentially. Seth Rollins put on a great match with The Miz and Finn Balor in last year's show which helped him build great momentum which led to a Royal Rumble win earlier this year.

It would be cruel on a talented Superstar's career if his spot on the show is taken by a 53-year-old veteran who makes 1-2 appearances a year, while younger Superstars work week in, week out to earn their right to feature in WrestleMania.

With so many talented Superstars on RAW and SmackDown, as well as many waiting in the wings at NXT, a match featuring The Undertaker compete against another legend or one with no build or storyline, does not make sense.

The likes of Elias, Drew McIntyre, or Mustafa Ali deserve a match at WrestleMania more than The Undertaker, at the moment.

#4 Headlining the show

The rumours going around are that The Undertaker will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year and will then go on to have his last and final match in the WWE at WrestleMania 35.

If that is to be his last match in the WWE, to cap off an incredible career, it will most likely see him featuring high up the card, perhaps sitting between the RAW women's title match between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch, and the Universal title match between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins.

Putting him lower down the card would not do justice to his career and legacy. But it would be unfair on the four Superstars vying for the two main WWE titles that will be on the line if they're pushed down the card, considering the great build that has gone towards the match, as well as how invested the fans are in both storylines.

WWE, give The Undertaker a fitting farewell, but not with a match at WrestleMania 35.
