4 Things WWE made clear on RAW this week (26th August 2019)

WWE RAW took place in Louisiana this week and the Red Brand offered a decent episode and yet it failed to reach the expectations this week, even though the show had some good matches and promos.

Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode teamed up to win the Tag Team Turmoil match after defeating six other tag teams and as a result of their win, the duo will challenge Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins at Clash of Champions.

Two King of the Ring matches took place as Baron Corbin defeated The Miz while Ricochet pinned Drew McIntyre. The SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley defeated Nikki Cross in a singles match.

Elsewhere on the show, Sasha Banks returned to the squared circle after four months and defeated Natalya via submission while Cedric Alexander beat Cesaro to gain momentum before facing Samoa Joe in the quarter-final of King of the Ring. The main event, however, had a bizarre ending as AJ Styles retained the United States Championship after Braun Strowman was disqualified during the clash.

With a couple of weeks left for Clash of Champions, the storylines developed significantly on RAW this week and here are four things WWE made clear on RAW this week.

#4 Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode are set to get the deserving push

A Tag Team Turmoil match took place on the Red Brand this week as a total of eight teams took part in this special segment. While an unusual alliance won the RAW Tag Team Titles last week, this episode followed a similar template as the new team of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode won the Turmoil match.

The Viking Raiders and B-Team squared off first as the latter were eliminated. However, the Raiders were disqualified along with the former RAW Team Champions Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

Roode and Ziggler were highly impressive this week as they defeated four other teams to become the number one contenders at Clash of Champions. The new alliance overcame Lucha House Party, The Revival, Hawkins and Ryder, and Heavy Machinery to earn the title shot.

Both Roode and Ziggler put up an exciting display as a new tag team. The two men are extremely dexterous in the squared circle and they are competent enough to dominate the tag team division. Considering Strowman will face his tag team partner Rollins on the same night, Ziggler and Roode will have a golden chance to win the twin Red Belts.

#3 King of the Ring will be unpredictable this year

There is no denying that King of the Ring is unpredictable this year and we witnessed another major surprise on the Red Brand this week. Two King of the Ring matches were held on RAW as Drew McIntyre faced Ricochet while in the other clash, The Miz fought Baron Corbin.

Drew McIntyre, who was certainly a tournament favorite, was eliminated in the very first round and yet, the elimination of McIntyre wasn't the first surprise of the tournament.

Last week, former Universal Champion Kevin Owens lost to Elias in the very first round, albeit through Shane McMahon's interference and considering two tournament favourites are already out of the reckoning for a title shot, WWE could push an underdog to win the tournament.

After defeating McIntyre, Ricochet could be a dark horse to win the tournament. Yet, if Baron Corbin is expected to return to challenge for the Universal Championship again, the King of the Ring throne could give him a colossal boost.

#2 Natalya will play a big role in The RAW Women's Championship storyline

After Sasha Banks' return to WWE, the Legit Boss attacked Natalya twice in two weeks. The Queen of Hearts was handed a chance to return the favour when the two women faced each other on RAW. Prior to the bout, Banks clarified why she attacked Natalya and Becky Lynch two weeks ago just as Natalya's music broke out as she charged on to the ring and engaged with Banks in a massive brawl.

Sasha Banks, whose last match was at the Grandest Stage of Them All, returned to the ring after four months. Although Natalya was eager to take revenge, Banks was at her best in the squared circle. The Boss locked Natalya in a Banks Statement as the latter was forced to tap out.

The RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch was absent from the Red Brand this week. It is clear that Sasha Banks will fight Becky Lynch at Clash of Champions and the match could be confirmed in the next few weeks.

However, the involvement of Natalya is interesting in this storyline. When Lynch and Banks will tussle at Clash of Champions, Natalya could interfere the bout. Also, it will not be surprising if the RAW Women's Championship match turns into a triple threat match either.

#1 AJ Styles is likely to defend the US Title against Braun Strowman at Clash of Champions

While the United States Championship match ended without a satisfying result last week, the scenario was similar this week. Braun Strowman got another shot at the title this week but he was disqualified following a misunderstanding from the referee. As a result, AJ Styles retained the title and the fight ended in a bizarre fashion.

Following the interference from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson last week, the two men were banned from the ringside. This episode's match brought out the best out of the both Superstars as the Phenomenal One gave a tough fight to the Monster.

Yet, just as the match was heading to a finish, Gallows and Anderson came out to rescue Styles when the referee was down on the floor after getting unintentionally hit during the fight. However, Strowman fought back and hit the members of The O.C. with chair shots until he was disqualified by the official, who assumed that Strowman was attacking Styles with the chair.

Since we are less than three weeks away from Clash of Champions, Styles is unlikely to get a new challenger. The Monster is already scheduled to fight his Tag Team partner Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship and will also defend the Tag Team Titles against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.

If Strowman faces Styles at Clash of Champions, the former could wrestle three times on the same night.
