4 Unique Ways To Book The Undertaker's Retirement

The Undertaker made his return to WWE television during Monday night's episode of Raw, where he confronted Shawn Michaels, and essentially teased a future match between himself and HBK while promoting the fact that he's going one-on-one with Triple H at the upcoming Super Show Down pay-per-view.

As we've learned over the years, it's impossible to predict when The Undertaker will actually retire. Many believed that he was going to hang it up for good after his first WrestleMania loss back in 2014, but he didn't. It also looked like he was going to retire after his loss to Roman Reigns at last year's WrestleMania, but he didn't.

But, while we can't really accurately predict when The Undertaker will finally hang it up, we can probably assume that it's going to be sooner rather than later, as the future WWE Hall of Famer will turn 54 next spring.

How will WWE book The Undertaker's retirement when the day finally comes? Well, here are 4 ways the company could book the WWE legend's retirement.

#4 - Casket Match

Personally, I've never been a huge fan of Casket Matches, but it would make sense to send The Undertaker off into retirement after being thrown in a casket. Now, in my opinion, this would be the least effective way to send The Undertaker off, but it's still a possibility.

As for who the opponent would be, and where it'd take place, well, the place is pretty simple actually: WrestleMania. The opponent though isn't as obvious, but perhaps someone like Kevin Owens would be good to put in that spot.

I would like to mention that I do think someone like Kane would be perfect for this spot as well, but I don't think WWE fans would be interested in seeing yet another Undertaker vs. Kane match, even if they all knew that it was going to be "The Deadman's" retirement bout.

#3 - One Last WWE Championship Run

It's been several years since The Undertaker last held any version of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, so it'd be great to see "The Phenom" get one last title run before he hangs it up for good.

Here's how you book it: have Undertaker come back and make it clear that he's going after the WWE Championship, and then once he wins it he promises that he'll retire as soon as someone is able to take the title off of him.

So, presumably, you'd get a title run that lasts a few months, which would lead to one of the younger people on the roster defeating him for the title, thus ending his legendary career.

As for what version of the title he should go after, well, WWE does seem pretty dead-set on keeping the Universal Championship on Roman Reigns for a while, so it'd probably make more sense for him to go after AJ Styles' WWE Championship over on SmackDown Live.

#2 - One More WrestleMania Match With Shawn Michaels

As previously mentioned in the intro, it did seem like WWE was teasing a future match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker during their segment on Monday's show, and if HBK were to come out of retirement, it'd make sense for him to do it against the guy who retired him.

Shawn and Undertaker have already had two fantastic WrestleMania matches together. In fact, most argue that their match at WrestleMania 25 was the best match in the history of the event. Does that mean that a third match between the two would be just as good as the previous ones? No, simply because both guys are a lot older.

However, they'd probably still have a pretty great match. I mean, no matter how old Shawn Michaels is, it's pretty hard to imagine him having a bad match, especially against someone like The Undertaker on a stage like WrestleMania.

Also, the stipulation for the match could be something like if Shawn Michaels wins, he's allowed to come back and wrestle whenever he wants, and on top of that, The Undertaker will be forced to retire after his loss to HBK.

#1 - Hell in a Cell vs. Braun Strowman

In my opinion, Braun Strowman would be the perfect person to retire The Undertaker, especially in a match like Hell in a Cell. Also, I'd book this to be a complete one-sided squash in favour of Strowman.

The idea here is that you do one of the most brutal Hell in a Cell matches in recent memory, and after a dominant win by Strowman, WWE can send The Undertaker off the right way, as he'd be putting over probably the biggest potential star the company has on his way out.

Having Strowman retire The Undertaker might guarantee that he's a heel forever unless you have "The Deadman" come back at some point to endorse him. But, even that probably wouldn't be enough.
