5 Best crowd signs from WWE Raw: January 16th, 2017

Kurt Angle’s WWE HOF inclusion was the biggest highlight of RAW

The Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas played host to this week’s edition of WWE Raw as the buildup to the Royal Rumble continued.

With just two weeks left for the first pay per view of the year, each Superstar took the opportunity to tell the WWE universe and their peers in the locker room what they would do in the Royal Rumble and how each of them would go on and headline Wrestlemania. But their claims did coincide and this made for an interesting RAW.

Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens and The New Day had interesting segments throughout the show, giving the WWE universe enough content to feed off. But, it was Kurt Angle, being announced as the Hall of Fame inductee for the upcoming edition that created a lot of buzz around the arena.

Pop culture and WWE have always gone hand in hand. With each show, we get to see many innovative fan signs which are sure to express their opinions and give Superstars a message or two. Let us look at some innovative fan signs that we got to witness this week on RAW.

#1 Tonight it Reigns

Roman Reigns is no doubt one of the most hated Superstars in the WWE. Despite being backed by the who’s who in the WWE fraternity, Reigns has enjoyed little success with the fans. WWE even tried to get the Rock to endorse his cousin during the Royal Rumble and that move backfired big time.

The little members of the WWE universe have, however, taken a liking to the ‘big dog’ in the WWE. One excited little fella in the front row expected Reigns to come out all guns blazing on RAW and continuously waved his ‘Tonight it Reigns’ poster.

The former Sheild member, however, had a night to forget as it was Brock Lesnar who had the last laugh, F5’ing his nemesis. Reigns will indeed come back stronger kid and you better believe in that.

#2 Best incarnate who?

The tag ‘Beast Incarnate’ has been bestowed upon Brock Lesnar by his advocate Paul Heyman ever since the former WWE champion defeated the Undertaker and conquered his streak at WrestleMania. With each new rivalry and each new promo, Heyman has emphasised the tag, again and again, to make it a brand for Lesnar to live with.

However, after Goldberg defeated the so-called ‘beast’ in under two minutes, the fans were quick to realise who the real beast in the house is. So, Goldberg now resides on top of the food chain and the fans want Lesnar to understand that. The battle of the beasts inside the Royal Rumble ring is a star attraction of the pay per view as well.

#3 Giving credit where it’s due

Ever since Triple H and family took over the reigns of the WWE, The Authority have been the perennial bad guys. Fans have taken towards them with much frustration and hate in the past and the management is easily one of the most hated factions in WWE history.

With more personal feuds entering the WWE storylines now, the Authority has taken a back seat to let proceedings go on. But a loyal WWE fan, who perhaps enjoyed the angle makes his opinion known to the world. I’m sure Stephanie and Triple H along with their stooges will have a laugh about this one in particular.

Remember corporate Kane anybody?

#4 David who?

The Hall of Fame is an esteemed group of individuals that the WWE honours and inducts into its setup. Legends of the business like Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, HBK, The Ultimate Warrior and Stone Cold among others are all recipients of the HOF award and are immortalised in the WWE.

Each year, fans make their voices heard as they sign petitions and share posts on social media about whom they believe deserve a HOF recognition. Names like Chyna and Macho Man are regulars to feature on this list.

This week on RAW, WWE opened the account with Kurt Angle being the first nominee for the year. A certain David P made his/her intentions clear as to who else needs to be nominated along with Angle. Hunter, are you listening?

#5 Cry Owens cry

Fight your tears instead KO (Courtesy WWE)

Ever since making his debut from the NXT setup, Kevin Owens has been on a rampage. From winning the US title to now being the WWE Universal champion, Owens has grown in stature in a short span of time.

His raw style of wrestling earned him the ‘fight Owens fight’ tag that resonates in the arenas he steps foot into. But, ever since he teamed up with Y2J Chris Jericho, Owens has been tagged as a ‘wuss’. His constant need to crib and provide excuses for defending titles has earned him a contrasting reputation to what once existed.

Cry Owens Cry on the sign boards reflected this sentiment and Owens needs to prove his detractors wrong against Roman Reigns in the Royal Rumble. He may have earned the ire of the fans, but KO is still in Jericho’s good books, I mean good lists.
