While all WWE fans sit and tune in to their weekly dose of Raw and SmackDown, the real excitement kicks in when a pay-per-view comes around. There is nothing quite like finally getting to watch your favorite superstars settle their differences at a major pay-per-view after weeks of build-up.

As we're treated to one of these events almost every month, it raises the question: who are the active superstars who have appeared at the most WWE pay-per-views?

We're going to delve into that and share with you the five current superstars with the most times in these major spotlights.

Honorable Mention - Chris Jericho

Despite becoming the inaugural AEW world champion and being a huge factor in the promotion's growth, Chris Jericho previously spent over 15 years with WWE. During that time, he earned himself a collection of accolades, including appearing in over 144 pay-per-view matches in his illustrious career.

Throughout his time in wrestling, Jericho has amassed a collection of accolades any performer would be proud of. But there was arguably no better moment in the 51-year-old's career than the time he bested both The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night to become the Undisputed WWF Champion.

He only made this list as an honorable mention because although he is still active, he's no longer with WWE.

#5 Kofi Kingston - 117 WWE Pay-Per-View Matches

Perhaps the most impressive member on the list is Kofi Kingston, a favorite amongst the fans who is best known for his time alongside Big E and Xavier Woods in The New Day. A faction that has outstandingly held the tag team titles on 11 different occasions.

His 117 pay-per-view matches have blessed us with some unforgettable moments, with his improvised handstand saving him from Royal Rumble elimination being just one of them. But the greatest moment in Kingston's history with the promotion was his Wrestlemania 35 win over Daniel Bryan to earn him the WWE championship.

#4 The Miz - 121 WWE Pay-Per-View Matches

If you want to feel old, just remember that The Miz made his WWE PPV debut with the company all the way back in 2004 where he competed opposite Daniel Puder in an attempt to win the overhauled Tough Enough. The two participated in a boxing match which The Miz lost via decision.

Just two years later, The Miz would then make his WWE in-ring pay-per-view debut against the infamous Boogeyman at Armaggedon. The Ohio-born superstar was once again on the receiving end of a beatdown and was welcomed with a mouth full of worms for his troubles. He has since gone on to perform at 121 PPV for the WWE.

#3 Edge - 135 WWE Pay-Per-View Matches

After making an astonishing comeback earlier this year at the Royal Rumble and winning the renowned achievement for the second time, Edge further increased his wrestling legacy. At almost 50, Edge is still going strong and looks set to continue to add to his impressive 135 WWE PPV appearances.

Despite coming up short to Roman Reigns in his bid to recapture WWE gold, Edge has continued to show what's capable for wrestlers who dedicate themselves to their craft.

Edge will add to his pay-per-view numbers when he takes on The Miz on WWE Day 1 on the first day of January 2022.

#2 John Cena - 163 WWE Pay-Per-View Matches

From his instant classic at Money in the Bank with CM Punk to his Wrestlemania 20 showdown with The Big Show, John Cena has been a mainstay in the WWE pay-per-view scene since the early 2000s. While the now 44-year-old is much less active in wrestling, he, like many other WWE legends, has a high probability of returning to the ring.

John Cena has been named the Wrestler of the Decade on two separate occasions by Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Once he eventually retires from in-ring competition and vows to never wrestle again, Cena will go down as one of the greatest to ever step foot into the squared circle.

#1 Randy Orton - 177 WWE Pay-Per-View Matches

Randy Orton is the most established wrestler when it comes to performing at WWE pay-per-views, and that comes as no surprise. Making his promotional debut all the way back in 2002 with a victory over Hardcore Holly, the match signified the beginning of something special for The Apex Predator.

The 10-time WWE champion made his most recent pay-per-view showing in November's Survivor Series. Along with Riddle, the two overcame SmackDown tag team champions, The Usos, ultimately earning RAW brand supremacy.
